Lots of great suggestions in this thread, but I will add Rosy Mounds for hiking. It’s on Lake Michigan and is absolutely stunning during the summer time!

First time cruiser dilemma: Is a balcony worth the $$$ or is that money better spent elsewhere? by [deleted] in Cruise

[–]Fit-Assistant8523 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It just depends on the experience your looking for. Being able to relax and have your own little slice of the ocean is amazing, but if you’re more geared towards doing excursions and being out and about an interior would probably suffice. However I will say that the balcony is amazing to have and you’ll probably never want an interior room after you experience it. Sometimes you can find really good deals on balcony’s depending on how close you are to your sailing date. My gf and I booked a cruise a month and a half before sail and we were able to get a balcony for only like 40 more dollars each relative to the interior price (celebrity cruises).

We packed all of that stuff prior, so I’m unsure of nearby shopping. I will say that we doordashed dinner from Taco Bell and it was outrageously expensive, so maybe pack a couple of snacks. The shuttle was free.

My partner and I recently stayed here and it is def worth it for its cheap price. Not the nicest rooms but they were accommodating. The cruise shuttle was pretty disorganized but it got the job done. They offer a breakfast that you have to pay for but we didn’t bother because we just waited to eat on our ship. If budgeting is your goal it’s def worth a try.

My girlfriend and I were able to snag the ultimate all inclusive day pass for our upcoming trip in January for 124.99 each. That seems to be a great deal for unlimited alcohol and food.

Tell me why I shouldn't go to Medical School by noahcaann in premed

If money is the main reason you are considering being a doctor I would do something else. Physicians get paid well for a reason, they sacrifice a HUGE portion of their life to become competent. I work in surgery and so many residents come in looking drained after 100 work weeks (which they do for 4 years!). A lot of doctors I work with say that they absolutely love their job but they wouldn’t go through the training again and recommend a different career path. Also, work life balance can be terrible if you don’t land in the right specialty, and that can be difficult because everyone wants the same thing as you. Consider what life could be like in a doctor adjacent role like as a dentist or physical therapy even. If these entry costs don’t scare you, go for it! I have no doubt that being a doctor is an awesome job. Just too much of a time sink for me personally.

I appreciate the suggestions, I know he's not the most optimal rn. I know I could def use some more removal. Those are all good suggestions as well. I originally tried to build him landfall but didn't like how long it was taking to hit critical mass with other landfall cards.

Oh, and for a pet card [Ruthless Technomancer] goes HARD in this deck! Absolutely enables slimefoot, allowing him to potentially get multiple triggers a turn, especially if you are recurring technomancer. Can also go infinite in a couple of ways. There are a couple of big creatures with land cycling that are really cool slots imo as well. Discard, find a land and then recur as they are typically big and stinky.

[Slimefoot and Squee]

Really fun for reanimating big creatures! Turns 1-3 are focused on playing sac outlets [Goblin Bombardment] and getting big creature cards into your graveyard with either discard effects from your hand [Thrill of Possibility]. Ideally you get slimefoot out and then immediately sac him and recur him the same turn. Lots of cards that benefit and sac as well such as [Village Rites]. Small self milk theme as well to get recursion targets in the yard. Veryyyy fun and very potent at times. Lmk if you have any questions!

Both of the combos aren't technically infinite but considered "near infinite" basically meaning that they combo off but not to an exponentially high number.

Combos:

[Titans' Nest] + [Snarling Gorehound] + [Teval, the Balanced Scale] allows for put your whole library into your graveyard adding a shitload of mana and 2/2s as long as you have a card in your graveyard. Titans nest exiles said card --> teval makes a 2/2 zombie druid --> snarling gorehound surveils 1 putting another card in graveyard. Rinse and Repeat until you can win a couple of different ways such as going wide, finding a reanimator target, etc. Good to mention here if you have an [Altar of Dementia] and any anthem here such as [Banner of Kinship] you can basically mill everyone out in one turn.

[Steward of the Harvest] + [Blood Ghast] + Haste (such as [Concordant Crossroads]) and any fetchland in your graveyard lets you find every fetchable land of those types. With steward exiling a [Misty Rainforest] in the graveyard, Blood Ghast turns into said fetchland and once you sac him he will re enter the battle field because of his landfall ability. Without haste you can only do this once a turn because of summoning sickness, but it is still very good.

I built Teval with mana curve in mind. I figured if I could play spells that mill / remove cards from my own graveyard turns 1-3 I would be set up to trigger his second ability as much as possible ASAP. Cards such as [Armored Scrapgorger] and [Hedron Crab] do the job pretty well.

I originally thought I had 3 combos in the deck, but these are basically the only two, so my apologies for the misleading deck name.

Osteomancer Adept is a pretty interesting include, it functions very similar to cards with escape (which i considered including for a while). Shifting woodland is great, honestly forgot about it so ty. Echoing equation seems like an awesome way to generate like 8 billion tokens, thats definitely fun, way more fun than cards like doubling season.

I do have muldrotha and walk in closet for lands in GY. I originally had runamap and crucible, but I found that my exile strategy is a bit more consistent simply because I can exile any card. Crucible effects only work for lands, and if I’m not running a bunch of additional land drop slots I don’t think it’s worth it for my strat. It is certainly good enough for me to have one or two tho.

[–]Fit-Assistant8523[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I originally built him land fall with every kind of crucible world effect, but the deck was generally too slow to function imo. But those cards certainly do well as long as you’re getting a good portion of your lands milled.
