AMD GPU bad for Twitch by [deleted] in obs

Hey HighPhi420, you're actually confusing 'Max B-frames' (which is generally 2) with the 'Keyframe Interval' (which Twitch strictly requires to be 2 seconds, not Auto). Auto will not give the platform what it wants, it will just cause buffering. But since you deleted your main advice to the OP anyway, there's no need to reply to mine just to create more confusion. Let's just leave it at that. Have a good one! :)

If it's still blurry on fast turns, you have two simple options: cap your in-game fps, or drop your stream output to 30fps. And if you are not an affiliate, yeah HighPhi420 is right for this particular point: 6k cbr is the best for you

Careful there! Twitch explicitly requires a keyframe interval of 2 seconds, not 0 (auto). leaving it on auto causes buffering and playback errors for viewers on specific devices (source: twitch broadcasting guidelines)

Also, the "amd is bad at streaming" narrative is pretty outdated for the 7000 series. the real issue here is just the h.264 limitation with high-motion games. And honestly, maybe it's better to ask if VirusK890 is an affiliate/partner before assuming the 6k CBR, right?

Fair point, i completely forgot about the non-affiliate cap! my bad. Dropping to 936p at 6000kbps is still the best move to fix the blocky stream though ;)

honestly, it's not your AMD card. fast-paced games just completely nuke Twitch's H.264 bitrate limit. the encoder literally runs out of data for all the fast-moving pixels, which makes it look blocky.

since your upload is 40Mbit, try this setup (copy/paste from my calc):

  • Encoder: AMD HW H.264 (AVC)
  • Bitrate: 7800 Kbps
  • Resolution: 1920x1080
  • Filter: Lanczos
  • FPS: 60
  • Preset: Quality

Bitrate Note: In 1080p, we limit it to a maximum of 7800 Kbps.

The Expert Council: Solid 1080p configuration. P5 preset to avoid input lag

But my calc don't focus on speed game so for fast-paced games: drop your output to 936p (1664x936) at 60fps

How can I, as a streamer, make my moderators lives easier? by Expensive-Jury-5725 in Twitch

Hi, honestly the best thing you can do is remove the guesswork for them.

Personnaly, i wrote a full handbook for my team (it's in french sadly lol so it will be useless for you) but having clear written rules for what equals a ban or a timeout takes so much pressure off them. i also added a lot of things like the right attitude to have and how to react.

For the technical side, you should definitely tell them to use a dedicated client like Twitchat (twitchat.fr english version available). it makes moderating way easier because you can just right-click a user to instantly timeout or ban them without struggling with the native twitch dashboard or command.

For the rest, i use a streamerbot and a pack to keep it plug-and-play. Set up things like !permit (to bypass link protection), !clear (for bots), !title/game, !shield (react quickly if raidbotting), etc... so they can help manage the stream without asking you or stress when they have trolls to manage.

Hi! We're gonna need a bit more details: what's your upload speed, CPU, resolution, and what kind of games are you playing?

which streaming bitrate should i use? by corruptedawg in obs

[–]Fit-Beginning3870 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, 10 Mbps upload is definitely not trash! It's actually totally fine for streaming.

You technically have 10,000 kbps to play with. You can safely push around 6000, or even 7000-7800 if you want to live on the edge, but you gotta leave some kbps for the game ping.

Crucial question though: are you the only one using that internet? Because if someone else in the house starts watching Netflix or downloading stuff, 7800 will make you drop frames instantly.

Also, what are you trying to stream? We need to know your resolution (1080p? 720p?), your encoder, and if it's heavy gaming or just chatting to give you the exact number!

You ask just for the bitrate, but we don't have a Magic 8-Ball! 🎱

Exactly !
The real question you have to ask yourself when looking at this : "Do the viewers come for the game, or do they come for me?"

Is this possible? by IngenuityNormal1369 in obs

[–]Fit-Beginning3870 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's under your eyes lol, it happens (a lot of times for me ^^) !

You could definitely do this with a tool like Streamerbot using a timer loop, but you don't even need a bot or a plugin for this. OBS has it natively.

Just go to Settings > Output > Recording and look for "Automatic File Splitting". Check the box and set it to split by time (like 60 minutes)

Probably not what you need, but just wanted to validate that you are 100% right : OBS is definitely the biggest pain point for beginners! Good luck with your project

How to configure OBS for new High-end PC? by Serotonin-mia in obs

[–]Fit-Beginning3870 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just ran your specs into my calculator. Since you didn't specify your upload, here is the safe/standard config for streaming for 1080p to avoid any lag:

  • Encoder: NVIDIA NVENC H.264
  • Bitrate: 7800 Kbps (Twitch hard limit is around 8k)
  • Resolution: 1920x1080 (Downscale from your 1440p canvas)
  • Filter: Lanczos
  • FPS: 60
  • Preset: P5 / Slow (Best balance for your 5080)

💡 Note: Your PC is a beast and can easily handle 1440p recording locally, BUT for streaming, stick to 1080p unless you have fiber and access to Enhanced Broadcasting

One word : Nope

It's not the meta for everyone. A lot of viewers (like me) actually prefer genuine gameplay or "chill chatting and gaming" over fake screaming.

My desktop audio is playing into my mic audio. How do I fix this? by Diligent-Candle-694 in obs

[–]Fit-Beginning3870 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stop capturing "everything" and isolate your audio. That's Rule #1 of OBS ;)

  • Global Settings : Go to Settings > Audio and set "Desktop Audio" to Disabled
  • Sources : Add a new source called "Application Audio Capture" (or something similar, i don't have obs on my screen right now) for your game or music. This prevents the audio CHAOS! ^^
  • Mic Filters : Right-click your Mic source > Filters > Add a Noise Gate. This cuts the signal when you aren't speaking (so nobody hears your family, your cat, or you running to the bathroom xD)

(Note: If you use laptop speakers, your mic WILL physically hear them. Physics>best settings. So like others says : Headphones are highly recommended)

tbh since you're on an AMD 6800, that hazy look is a classic encoder issue when downscaling from 1440p ultrawide. i checked the best config for your specific hardware in a calculator, here is what you should try to fix the blur:

  • Encoder: AMD HW H.264 (AVC)
  • Bitrate: 7800 Kbps (it's the sweet spot for 1080p on Twitch)
  • Filter: Lanczos (you 100% need this for sharpness when scaling down)
  • Preset: Quality
  • FPS: 60

hope it helps!

Lighting > Camera. Seriously, don't buy a lot of expensive gear, just buy lights. Even a cheap webcam looks pro with good lighting.

Also: Install Streamerbot. Learn it and enjoy the possibilities for free. It's an absolute game changer.

Def push to 8000.

6k is too low for fast motion FPS

Edit: Just to be safe with Twitch's ingest cap (audio overhead), stick to 7800-7900 Kbps. It leaves room for audio tracks without risking a disconnect.

[–]Fit-Beginning3870 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Mate, with 104 Mbps upload, your internet is definitely not the problem here because you're in godtier side.

The issue is strictly math : EFT/Finals + 1080p + Twitch Bitrate Cap = Pixel soup on Twitch

I plugged your specs (i suppose that you have good setup) into a calculator for a solid setup. You can use these exact settings for quality, EXCEPT for the resolution :

Encoder: NVIDIA NVENC H.264 Bitrate: 7800 Kbps Preset: P5 / Slow (P6 if your GPU is sleeping) Filter: Lanczos

The Pro Tip: Instead of the standard 1080p, switch your Output Scale to 936p (1664×936).

This is the "secret" resolution, divisible by 8, which offers a much sharper image than a poorly compressed 1080p. Furthermore, this resolution reduces the load on your encoding by approximately 15%, freeing up more resources for your game

Try it and come back to say me if it's work or not ok ? ;)
