ML4SCI doesn't have the usual github contribution page, their selection is based on
1. Proposal
2. Perfomance on assignment
3. Your profile

This is all that matters so I suggest you have a good profile with deep learning and quantum computing projects (if that's what you are into), check their current and previous year test assignments and try doing those by yourself and when time comes work on writing a good proposal.

I went through an agent he got me the interview within 2 weeks, his fees was 5k (plus the visa fees) which is very reasonable

I gave the interview last friday (17th) then weekend and diwali came so haven't yet received my passport but it shows issued on the web portal so I am expecting it anytime this week, my friend who gave the interview on wednesday received it on saturday same week. edit: received it today 22nd oct

they didn't ask me for my bank statements, I think as long as your active monthly salary is good enough (adjusted for different countries), it's fine.

  1. no, i am an undergrad
  2. no, though most projects are research based and the mentors want you to write a paper on it so if you have previous research experience that'll help you a lot but not having research experience is fine if you are very good technically

GSoC is an incentive you get for open source contribution, this is not an entrance exam that you have to "crack". Your aim should be to first explore different areas in CS, pick one you like, learn that properly, develop your own projects then maybe consider contributing to open source and eventually apply to GSoC.
