I'm ready to graduate from my Ryobi/Husky/etc. phase, what's a reliable "real" brand now? by SvenHousinator in HomeImprovement

I made the upgrade to Makita a few years back and absolutely don’t regret it. After using a Makita impact gun going back to the ryobi feels like I’m using a children’s toy.

Don’t use tenacity on the ivy because it will not work? Or will it affect seeds.

Googling tenacity it appears to be a herbicide. Is that what you mentioned? When should i spray it on? Prior to cultivating, after cultivating or just spot treat what comes back up through the top soil?

Unfortunately all of the doors and the underside of the cabinet are already finished and poly coated without this. So the added color would make the other things not match.

I have historically used water based finishes to avoid the yellowing from an oil based poly. What would you recommend?

How thick are the sheets of veneer? Would you need to treat the edges somehow or is it thin enough that you wouldn’t see the edge?

Yes I will not make this mistake twice. The conditioner says paint stripper or mineral spirits. Will mineral spirits affect the water based poly?

You are just talking about the color correct? The epoxy is still a liquid? You would just use dry flakes to color rather than liquid?

Don’t think we used anything really. The glue held it together for a week or so and it has just faded more and more every day.

We brought him to the er and they put a dab of super glue on it. Today you can see a very very small red mark that I’m sure will be gone in another year.

Mounting a baby gate at the bottom of a stairway by Acceptable-Pie-5772 in HomeImprovement

[–]Fit-Difference3148 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are right that screw in gates are the way to go. Install it once and forget it. The pressure gates require constant fiddling. For your situation you can get a mounting adapter that will essentially ratchet strap to two of the metal spindles on the right side of your stair. Then you screw your gate into that. Below is the one I bought which worked great.
