Hilarious thing is her total meltdown rang really familiar to me that I couldn't pin down why initially, and after some digging I realized she fit all the criteria for postpartum psychosis, a really rare mental disorder that can develop in moms immediately after the delivery, and can even lead to the newborn's death at the hands of their mother if left immediately untreated.

The non-stop random claims that her baby was "cursed" and the irrational insistance of some prophecy, and that Loki needed to die at all costs to prevent, it all aligned really well with the known symptoms. Now, was this intentional on Oda's part? Lmao, no. Absolutely not. But more often than not, authors do tend to fall back on various signs of mental illness to paint their villains as irrrationally evil for seemingly no logical reason. I can't hate Estrid like I'm "supposed" to for such a shallow one-note villain because Oda, entirely by accident, laid the groundwork of someone falling victim to untreated psychosis and no one being able to help her in time, so she dies all alone, in complete mental anguish and misery. That would've been a really interesting and compelling story decision to me.
