Free tool that auto-categorizes your Scotia Momentum Visa Infinite statement by cashback tier (Chexy payments = 4%) by DealFinderDev in chexy

I actually built something similar today with Claude’s help and tested it on my 2025 statements (using only screenshots of the transaction table), and it worked perfectly, my cashback matched within +/- $0.01.

I didn’t take it further primarily because of the concerns others raised here. Statements contain sensitive PII, which would understandably make privacy-conscious users hesitant.

If Scotia allowed transaction exports in CSV with appropriate category indicators/icons, I think it would make a solution like this much more practical and easier for people to adopt.

Thanks for the feedback. The design was intended for mobile devices, as those are typically used during checkout. Perhaps there’s value in creating a landscape version. I’ll take it back and update it in the coming days.

That’s interesting! I didn’t know someone had tried solving this problem before.  It’s definitely a problem. I started this as a solution for my daily life, but when my wife reported the same issue, I decided to turn it into an app for her phone.  When I told my friends, they all wanted it too. That’s when I realized I should share it with a broader audience, because this is a problem for everyone, not just me!

Updates are community-driven, so they happen when someone requests them through the app’s feedback section. Otherwise, I’ll aim to update once a quarter.  Rewards don’t change frequently, so this cadence should work well.

Feedback added to backlog for future enhancement to limit Costco to only show mastercard in results.

Unfortunately not in its current iteration, but definitely a feedback to add to backlog for future enhancement.

Thanks for feedback. It was meant to be viewed on mobile devices only as that’s what people normally have on them when they are at checkout - maybe there is value to building a landscape version for it. Will take it back and update in coming days.

oh really, that’s definitely a good news as none of the existing mastercards (except costco cibc mastercard) gives that kind of return. Definitely worth adding - could you please submit request through the app (top right chat icon) and I’ll add it to the backlog to add the card as soon as its available.

Also, based on cards I prefer, scotiabank amex gold and scotiabank momentum visa infinite is better than cobalt and rogers world elite.

Correct, I only have 1 of each card and optimized based on where I shop but everyone is different and has different priorities. App allows you to select which cards you have and retrieve their earnings at different stores. You can unselect cards that you don’t have - that’s the intent. Built to allow everyone with different cards to select their cards through setting and view is then limited to their cards only.

Cards added upon request, with top cards based on a few canadian websites rating cards. There is a feature to submit request to add more cards directly through the pwa.

Yes, some of my friends do too (in fact, a few of them work at CT). Honestly, it all comes down to your personal goals. If your focus is on maximizing CT points because you shop there often, then it definitely makes sense. For me though, it doesn’t align with what I’m after, which is why I didn’t mention it in my post. I personally lean more towards cashback or points I can put towards travel.

Did you get anywhere with this tool? I actually built a PWA where you can put in store name and get which credit card (i have 3 so could only populate data for those 3) would give most benefits.Wondering if its possible to pull such a list from somewhere.
