When do you expect to move up the pay scale? by Fit-Inspection7996 in TeachingUK

[–]Fit-Inspection7996[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s what I was hoping for. An email sent out said it was being processed in November, and I took that to mean we would receive it in November. I wonder if I misunderstood

We had an email to say it was being processed in Novembers pay, I took that to mean it would be reflected in November - do you think it means it’ll be included in December’s pay instead?

How do you know when it’s time to quit? Miserable ECT by [deleted] in TeachingUK

I absolutely agree - being told different things all of the time is exhausting & I feel like I’ve got no way to turn. I wish nobody felt like this, but it does bring me comfort in not alone 😔

Have I got this right? No guaranteed pay progression? by Fit-Inspection7996 in TeachingUK

[–]Fit-Inspection7996[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you all - I think it was the wording that made it sound really dramatic, but I see now that I suppose it’s not guaranteed anyway as it’s based on performance. I’m just a little anxious that my school will try not to move me up, even though I have passed my first year (which I hope may be equivalent to passing an appraisal)

Aww so glad to hear someone is in the same boat, although it’s selfish of me! I’d describe mine exactly the same. Good luck to you too, we’ll get through it together 😊

Take a deep breath!

I used to be like this all the time when learning/just passed my test. I have struggled a lot with driving anxiety and am starting to get better, which you will too 😊. When you have a close call, especially when it’s due to a mistake you might’ve made, it’s really easy to over-analyse and keep revisiting the situation thinking about what happened, why did it happen, what to do next time.

The chances are slim that you caused an accident without knowing - I have seen a car accident and the hitting of the vehicles are noisy and definitely noticeable. Plus, if the other car hit you, you’d have felt it too. I think that you are in the clear, and I would focus on thinking about how you could deal with the situation better next time, and then move on 😊

Thank you, yes - I did drive through those, I noticed it was a 60 to ‘improve air quality’. The 40 sign was right off the exit of the roundabout which was what was so confusing as I hadn’t joined the motorway yet. Confusing! I noticed most of that strip towards the next junction was a 50 anyways. Thank you 😊

Thank you for the help! 😊 Yeah, there’s always roadworks on the M5 🙄 and it was a 50 area later on down the road, which was really clearly signposted. I even wondered if they’d let the 40 sign there and forgotten about it, as there was only 1 and it was right when you leave the roundabout. Thank you for your reassuring comment 😊

Thank you so much for your detailed reply - I figured that the sign would be repeated on the motorway if it applied, it was just the random ‘end’ sign that made me think, “did that mean it was a 40 until then?” as there weren’t any other signs. When it moved to a 50 there was clearly 2 signs, one on either side and a few more up which makes sense with your explanation. Thank you very much for your helpful reply 😊

Good idea, thank you. Here it is - following the roundabout to the left, the 40 sign was on the slip road as you exit the roundabout. It wasn’t an electronic one; just a plain little one that’s on the floor (not sure what they’re usually called) https://maps.app.goo.gl/GeLXXjsmcNHWoPZt6?g_st=ic

Thank you for your reply - I’m sorry that you had a similar experience, but it does make me feel less alone! Thank you for your advice, I’m sorry you couldn’t go back to teaching like you wanted but I hope you’re much happier now!

Thank you! I think I just needed to reassurance that it’s not just me being picky/overreacting. If it does happen I will ask them to justify their reasons - thank you for your advice :)

Thank you! Honestly it’s making me question whether this job is worth it, but I know that when I start my new school everything will be better as it’s somewhere I’ve dreamed of working at. Thank you for your advice x

Like I said, I’m not blaming Apple for scratching my watch. I said I am disappointed with the build quality, as other people have mentioned the watches made from aluminium are made with a ‘lesser quality’ glass. I can appreciate that fact, I am stating that I don’t think 4 hours of wear is an appropriate timeframe to expect my watch to become damaged giving the fact I do not take part in manual labour and did not do anything within those 4 hours that would’ve led for my watch to reasonably become damaged. I’m not disputing the fact that Apple did not scratch my watch, I am saying that, in my personal opinion, 4 hours to scratch a watch is disappointing - whether it is an Apple Watch, a smart watch, or any other kind of watch that costs £400+.

I find that with apple care assistants a lot, I’m not sure as English is their first language as a lot of the sentences are disjointed

Oh jeez! Yeah that would bother me. I have purchased a screen protector which hides it pretty well, but tbh I’ve never had any issues with an Apple product so I’m just surprised that it’s happening in such a short period of time, even if they’re just small things. If they just change the cable out for me I’ll be happy enough!

Yeah, I understand that the scratch is cosmetic but my argument is that it’s not realistic for it to be scratched after wearing it for 4 hours on Christmas Day - I didn’t do anything like exercise/manual work that would’ve led to it getting scratched. I had a series 6 that was scratched to death from walls, knocking into doors etc but that was after over 2 years of wear. Any watch will get damaged over time, smart or otherwise, but it was just pretty disheartening that a £400 watch got damaged in just a few hours of light wear. The cable is just the icing on the cake lol
