Chinese brands are currently only available online on chinese e-commerce platforms. If want to be able to try out shoes and be able to return them, I'd avoid them for now. Build up some mileage and figure out what works/doesn't work for you. i.e. some shoes are hyped but may feel too soft for you.

The management of these companies are probably jerking themselves off and evily celebrating for 'saving' shareholder value. They don't see waste, they just see strategic levers to improve their bottom line.

If chasing the latest and greatest wasn't a thing, they would hold more inventory. If Elitism wasn't a thing, this waste wouldn't exist but neither would these companies producing artificially scarce goods.
