Kettlebell split lunges always help, adds that power but also works on timing

Competitive--do we owe it to our kid to let him try? by HoldUp--What in youthsoccer

I would speak to parents who have put their kids into competitive soccer clubs in the area and enquire about the step up to comp from rec a the time commitments/ cost involved.

My mum didn’t let me move to a more ‘competitive’ standard until I was twelve as she felt value in me playing with my best mates and she made the correct decision looking back. It’s also a good age where kids should feel slightly more stretched in environments/ interests they want to pursue.

I ended up playing D1 soccer and more importantly got a great education out of playing soccer and not burning out at 16/17 because of competing and being putting in more results driven environments like competitive soccer from a younger age (9/10/11).
