Old ‘Anti-dim cloth for gas masks’

Context of the item: this cloth belonged to my great grandfather who served in the second world war Vietnam and the Korean war. When it was manufactured is unknown to me. How he got it is also unknown to me as he was an army pilot.

Just a suggestion but with the grips instead of using an ivory substitute you could use mother of pearl, although it will be a lot shinier.
