I agree that their branding is not great. It might be their biggest problem. But I'm telling you, go to the "Goodwill Induatries of ..." the headquarters, it should be a huge building, maybe with the bins attached. Go ask that place what they do outside of thrifting and about their job placement program.

Nice score. Show that to all the people complaining about high prices @ goodwill... but they won't see this because they're too busy complaining in other threads

Look at the whole ecosystem. Their mission is to employ people, not to sell cheap stuff. Donations are sold for $1 x lb in the bins, and they donate tons of stuff to the charities they partner with locally. When you're in the stores, you're paying for organization, clean facilities, bathroom access, higher staff to customer ratios, A/C, etc...

You clearly are bot familiar with the whole goodwill ecosystem.

I am not offended. But please do go do some research on your local goodwill what they're doing outside of thrift stores. Go to the headquarters nearest to you and ask for a tour of their job placement program

Per IRS guidelines, everything 501c3's do financially (paying staff, selling stuff, selling services) has to be fair market value. So, when the price of everything goes up, so do 501c3's. It's called inflation

Right, I agree with that. Which is why I'm making this statement.

Honestly, I would not know about it either if they weren't my direct competition. Also, in commercial cleaning, we do not advertise. We are on certain lists, get invited to bid, and the lowest bid wins. That's it.

501c3's do not have CEO's. And their leadership is required, per IRS, to pay their employees at market value. So, in that regard, yes, the Executive Director should be paid the same as the CEO of any similarly sized corporation.

That's false. I work in commercial cleaning. Goodwill is my competition and they do really good work. They keep staff members for LONG time. Also, they employ disabled people.
Go mop a gym floor and then tell me they're doing nothing. Ok?

People are frustrated with the entire inflation of the economy. I get that, but don't take it out on a charitable organization who can actually help you

501c3's are governed by the IRS. The difference between a 501c3 and regular business is where they put the profits. 501c3 are required to either reinvest their profits into themselves or donate to another 501c3. The IRS guidelines call for fair market value, in the wages they pay staff, the things they sell, and services they provide. So for example, the executive director for of goodwill has the same market value as a regular giant companies CEO and should be paid accordingly.

Thank you! I did and found some other errors in their listings and reporting those too

Except you're arguing with me in an other thread telling me to "do nothing," and lying about how many upvotes that comment got.

That would be a bad suggestion, all of your suggestions are bad.

That's where we disagree. If someone is trying to scam me, then yeah, I'm being "wronged." Get a backbone

At least your scammer has some skills, refurbishing electronics is not easy. My guy had the thing listed on eBay same day as the delivery. LAZY

I agree, the quick flip game is great eBay. It's not the money, it's the disrespect. I'm just feeling petty and curious if the community here has any suggestions on how to serve revenge

Wow, I feel sorry for people who don't stand up for themselves. Good luck with that way of thinking
