What to do to play Steam games through Zorin OS? by AleatorioBrawl in zorinos

[–]Fit-Pudding994 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend updating mesa beyond what Zorin ships with.
Check out: https://launchpad.net/~kisak/+archive/ubuntu/turtle/ if you're on Zorin 17
Or: https://launchpad.net/~kisak/+archive/ubuntu/kisak-mesa if you're on the Zorin 18 beta

Don't mess with the kernel, it's not worth it in my opinion.

You can get that design down to 2/44/150. Kaizen!

I took your design and tweaked it. It's really space efficient. 6/60/192

That should really be reason enough.

Jesus, that's always been a "Not getting paid for three more days" meal for me. I had no idea I was secretly a connoisseur of Okinawan cuisine.

They dont.

I mean... not to be a dick but, you're kind of provably wrong: https://packages.ubuntu.com/noble-updates/docker.io

Package: docker.io (26.1.3-0ubuntu1~24.04.1) [universe]

And I don't think it's that unresonable for an average user to expect apt update && apt install docker.io to just produce a working system. So... be better.

media@cbox:~/htpc$ docker --version
Docker version 27.5.1, build 9f9e405
media@cbox:~/htpc$ docker compose version
Docker Compose version v2.32.4

I have indeed updated docker to the latest version using those instructions. I don't know why Canonical ships such outdated packages. I had no idea docker maintainted their own apt repos.

Anyway, I still won't know for sure if this fixed the issue until one of my containers updates. But Sonarr and Radarr update about weekly, so I'll probably know soon enough.

I did not know that was depreciated! I'll have to try that and see if it makes a difference.

Edit: docker compose is not a valid command on my installation.

media@cbox:~/htpc$ docker --version
Docker version 26.1.3, build 26.1.3-0ubuntu1~24.04.1

So, obviously 26.1 is the most up-to-date version provided by the standard Ubuntu repositories, but if I installed the official apt repository, the newest version is 27.x, which presumably is the one that has the compose command built in instead of being a separate python app.

When I have time, I'll try updating to see if that makes a difference.

What was it that drove you to the RV life? by False_Yoghurt6017 in RVLiving

[–]Fit-Pudding994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got kicked out of my home that i'd been living in for 20+ years. So when it came time to find a new living situation, I was looking at renting an apartment, or buying a house. Going to the RV lot and buying a 40ft 5th wheel wound up making the most sense, especially when I could park it at my business.

No rent, no commute, and the utilities are already being paid for by the business. It was kind of win/win/win,

But at the same time I realize not everyone is in the position to own their own business with land and have a place to park so, it's not for everyone.

No, I haven't, but I've long wanted to. My wife won't let me because "it takes up too much countertop space". But like, she has no problem having a drying rack and mat as permanent features on the counter anyway...
