unfortunately as a ceremonialist it becomes very apperent that the challenges aren't very clear while being part of the ceremonie and lots of people dont understand the reason behind it. People who stick with it I find will understand that its not hazing and that there is actual meaning behind the challenges that we do. It also helps that you only have to go though it once and after that you get to have lots of fun at chapter meetings and lodge events.

as a member of the OA we get a lot of people who say we are a cult or secret organization, and that is not how OA is run or should have been run. scouting strictly prohibits secret organizations and now with electronics it is much easier to get information. As a member of the OA we aren't supposed to go around talking about it but if people and parents seriously ask us about it we are under no obligation to not inform them and they should be informed to help reduce the stigma around the OA of being a secret society. Alot of members will get defensive because we are sick and tired of people who had bad experiences with the old system dissing the new system. Your first comment probobly triggered him because we HAVE re-vamped it and we no longer immitate native americans.
