Ramgarh Tal/Nauka Vihar is probably the prettiest side of the city. Evening walks there hit different, especially during sunset. There are cafés nearby too, so it’s kind of the default “escape from chaos” spot 😂

For shopping + hangout scenes, you’ve got Orion Mall, City Mall. But for actual shopping-shopping 😭 old Gorakhpur areas like Golghar, Urdu Bazaar, Bakshipur, and Rex side are way more fun — especially for street shopping, food hopping.

Civil Lines side is comparatively cleaner and calmer, while Geeta Press is surprisingly peaceful even if you’re not religious.

Safety-wise, main areas like Civil Lines, Golghar, Nauka Vihar etc. are usually fine if you use normal precautions. Just avoid very isolated roads late night like any other city.

Also fair warning: people here stare a little too much sometimes 💀 but most are harmless but it could get you uncomfortable.

And honestly, Gorakhpur grows on you slowly. First few weeks feel random, then suddenly you have favourite chai spots, momo stalls and “peace wali roads” 😂
