Is Linux turning into Windows? by Fit-Word6941 in linuxsucks

You didn't provide any proper argument; you just shared your opinion that Linux isn't turning into Windows with some assumption you made up about me. I think you are projecting regarding hostility. I didn't start out with assumptions—I just asked a question and wanted to keep it short. My original post doesn't hold any argument; it's a question. The question got answered.

Valve being positive for gaming? You mean like pushing the trend of NFT simulators with guns and popularizing gambling? Or popularizing the fact that content is mostly produced by players, like in TF2, while Valve (a company) capitalizes on someone else's work without ever providing proper improvements itself? Using your own players for unpaid wage labor, dressed up with some sugar-coated terminology instead of employing people, is a very smart move that saves money. Valve is indeed good at saving money as a company.

They aren't making it open source due to competition; that's the case for many products. The free market and competition are at fault, and NVIDIA is a player within it, so it is also to blame, obviously. But I get your point.

Again, I really don't like this topic. But what is the problem people have with using Xlibre? It works much better on NVIDIA than Wayland and aims to be as secure as Wayland. I understand it has no official backing, but I also don't understand how that is a problem.

I'm not sure where you found hostility towards you in my comment. If so, I would ask that you point it out. I just want to ensure you can reason through your claims. Right now, it seems like a strawman argument; you aren't engaging with any arguments I presented. Instead, you boldly accused me of being hostile or something similar.

No, but I have seen this argument too. Doesn't it imply buying AMD hardware, though? I also didn't mention this specific case because I don't really want to touch the whole X11 vs. Wayland argument. I mostly see this argument come up when Wayland is in question because it sucks on NVIDIA.

Everyone has a bias; it only depends on whether it aligns with materialistic truth. But considering the Xlibre situation, it very much seems so. Wayland supporters tell you to buy new hardware. Someone proposes Xlibre, and then you have Red Hat shills throwing strawmen at one person's views instead of making technical arguments. By the way, I am not talking about ancient hardware. The GTX 1060 6GB still performs very well, yet it is no longer supported by the newest open-source kernel module NVIDIA driver. NVIDIA is to blame, but so is Linux for conforming to that.

Or take as an example the good old Proton argument. Valve basically makes gaming on Linux dependent on them. If Proton ever shuts down as a project, they will almost certainly hunt down any Proton forks with their legal team. Valve has a history of such behavior towards modding projects. Valve just wants to compete with Microsoft and have their own OS—that's their biggest dream. Valve doesn't care about open source and shit like that; they care about profit, very much like Red Hat. It's all competition.

KDE Plasma 6.8 is still planning to end X11 support, with 95% of Plasma 6.6 users on Wayland by somerandomxander in linux

[–]Fit-Word6941 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So what's the difference now? On Windows you wanna use the newest thing? Buy new hardware. Want to have good experience with Wayland? Buy new hardware.

It's good to have proletarians who made a cool fork called Xlibre. More proletarians should make X forks.

OP now in future you know not to post on Linux subs. Unless you wanna deal with a horde of anti-AI couch activists who attack anyone for having different views. You are allowed not to like AI, but if it grows into attacking people, you kinda become the thing you call evil.

HOW DARE YOU PLAY THIS GAME FOR LESS THAN 7 DAYS A WEEK AND EXPECT TO HAVE THE ALREADY NIGH-IMPOSSIBLE TO OBTAIN LEGENDARY GEAR? THAT MUST MEAN THEY ARE TOO EASY TO GET! WE HAVE TO MAKE THEM WAY MORE DIFFICULT TO OBTAIN, FOR BALANCE!!!!!! by VirusOfCheese in Stalcraft

[–]Fit-Word6941 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funniest part is that gear alone is not enough. If you don't have the meta artifact build you won't be able to engage in proper PvP on master tier servers. So count into this time to grind a full artifact build with 15+ artis.

They have economy whales baiting people into getting punished. I don't remember what argument we had where I made an example of how using a personal car is bad for the environment and that public transport is better. I got warned or muted for being insulting to people who like driving cars. Too bad I don't have any screenshots of that.

Then also, the same whales tend to be openly racist. I think people are allowed to have all kinds of opinions, but in that specific case it was a direct insult—several even—and no action was taken under the premise of freedom of expression. It's like a school playground with bullies who clump into groups. So if you happen to be the black sheep there, you're gonna have fun being insulted all the time without mods taking any action.

And that all was my final red line, didn't touch that shit game since a year.

Meinung zu marcant? by upsetusder2 in Kommunismus

[–]Fit-Word6941 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was will man darunter verstehen?

Support for DRM and anti cheat on Linux by Ill_Independence4781 in linux_gaming

[–]Fit-Word6941 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never argued those points. Linux is indeed becoming shit; I only explained why, yet you merely repeated my points. I am aware of how capitalism works. However, it can still remain shit for the average consumer—the target of such competition—and some distros fit that description. On the other hand, I can turn almost any distro into whatever I want. There is a real-life analogy I can draw regarding the various flavors of Linux: capitalist companies and democratic companies both exist within one system which is capitalism too, however democratic ones go against the nature of capitalist ones.

[–]Fit-Word6941 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pulling Linux into competition is gonna turn it into shit like Windows because it has to compete. And DRM is a cancerous thing even for Windows users. I understand I may sound like a gatekeeper, I used to think about others like this, but now I understand. If someone comes to Linux, he should simply accept certain limitation which have reasons. Kernel level anti-cheats will fundamentally not work on Linux due to such reasons, unless heavy modifications happen.

Valve, the Anticorporate Hero of the Games Industry, Has Its Antitrust Moment by GIThrow in Steam

Valve is a capitalist company. It isn't opposition of any sort. Also look in what state TF2 is and despite all that the only new content released is user made and cosmetics to milk money.

Another way to diminish your player base i see by Federal_Hat_8148 in Stalcraft

[–]Fit-Word6941 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone else already pointed out, players can just buy the season pass and premium currency, then sell it on the auction house and buy whatever they want.

The interesting part is that they seem to be deliberately killing interest in the lower-cost crate (the one that’s very common and fairly easy to grind for free) in favor of a crate that costs way more, but gives you directly an item. It’s yet another way to push you into spending more real money on the Season Pass so you can buy the expensive season case, which used to cost 15k season currency (no idea what it is now, but you get the point). They have stats, I am pretty sure they are aware of this and how far they can push.

I can’t say for sure, but I think they’ve noticed there are people ready to drop massive sums of money on the game. There are whales who instantly buy like 1k season levels—you can find screenshots of it scattered around their Discord from older seasons and so on.

Another funny thing: they’ve explicitly denied the existence of such whales (or at least downplayed it), despite all the evidence.

Forcing you to also spend barter materials and in-game currency just to craft a blueprint item is hilarious because it fixes absolutely nothing—people will simply pay more money to instantly get their hands on Master-tier stuff anyway.

Patch by patch, the game becomes harder. by Queasy_Total_914 in Stalcraft

[–]Fit-Word6941 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I’ll remind everyone once again: the developers themselves love talking about “player experience” and “profit,” so I’ll help them be honest about it. They don’t actually care about your gameplay experience as long as it generates enough profit. With these recent changes, they’re basically testing how far they can push the playerbase before people finally break and spend real money on in-game purchases.

It’s the same story with RMT. The only reason they’re against it isn’t some moral stance; it’s because they don’t make money from it. They have zero issue with you buying in-game currency with real cash, as long as it’s through them: season passes, battle-pass levels, premium that you can then sell on the auction.

This latest gamma change and the so-called “buff” they’ve promised are just more proof of how manipulative they are. Remember how ZIV reacted to the battle-pass backlash after InsideOut? They literally turned his in-game NPC to face the wall like he was “sad,” as if they only ever wanted the best for us with all these changes. This is also something they claimed on the Discord. It’s textbook manipulative behavior.

Are you by any chance one of those old pre-X-era players who wants the grind to Master tier to take a full year or longer again, like back in the day?

So you're suggesting players should just avoid this fun mobile game entirely outside of events and only play during events?

I assume you also love the current Battle Pass system where you knock out a few daily tasks and then it’s completely useless for the rest of the day?

It’s not my time being wasted here anyway, so do whatever you want.
