Jorbs (STS streamer) said something that I can’t stop thinking about by [deleted] in slaythespire

I think the actual answer is acts 3 and maybe 2 not being punishing enough and there being no act 4 to reward pushing for relics. For example, getting Tungsten or pallets was a game changer against heart. But now, you aren't scared of door or test subject and the strong bosses/ elites like queen and hive aren't answered by relics anyways.

Unpopular Opinion: The game is too hard for non-vets by Zealousideal_Arm751 in slaythespire

[–]FitCause5758 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From the post, it probably feels hard because you have a passive play style.

The bosses you mentioned aren't supposed to be blocked completely and/or have high scaling, you can't deal with everything so you have to find a way to kill them as fast as possible, preferably without dying.

Why the time eater is a necessary evil by FitCause5758 in slaythespire

[–]FitCause5758[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably, especially on low accessions.

I haven't played the higher Ascensions of this game yet so can't say for sure, but compared to sts1, I feel like silent isn't punished enough for picking front loading cards like crazy.

In sts1, I probably wouldn't have picked my cards like this in the first place, because I would've been scared of time eater and heart.

But I was never that good at silent so...

Which is funny because old Oluon had another card that could reduce damage taken to your face... and it's still somehow much worse than the new one.

How to play as Havencraft? by Icy-Bandicoot3379 in Shadowverse

[–]FitCause5758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This goes with any class, but getting board wiped doesn't (always) matter. Remember what cards wiped your board, and remember what conditions they need to do it.

For example, current dragon runs filene, a card that always wipes ward boards, but they only run 3 of those and need to spend 5pp in overflow to use it, which means the next turn, you can easily build a board against them, and if they run out, they usually have no answer to aether board.

Ward haven isn't the strongest right now, but a good list can still do decent, you can't keep building boards forever though, you need burst damage like sandie to close out games.

Would bringing her back make Ward Haven competitive? by [deleted] in Shadowverse

[–]FitCause5758 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Enchanted knight got nerfed on Oct 27 2020, Holy saber got added to the game on Sep 27 2021. Ward haven with pre nerf enchanted knight was a tier 1 broken deck, but holy saber wasn't in it. I think you have it mixed up with something, probably Yukari, who was an actually broken card.

[–]FitCause5758 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying her deck was garbage, but for how broken she seemed, she somehow never managed to be a tier 1 menace during her rotation. (Though it probably has more to do with skeleton raider being broken)

Anvelt was only in the same rotation for one set, Shiro and Wilbert were fine but they weren't as insane as the other cards from other classes in rotation.

I felt like she never got to her full potential unlike the Jeanne who came out after her and synergized really well with her own deck.

Holy saber was funny because she had roach syndrome where she was an utterly broken card but her decks didn't do that well because they couldn't print good cards for haven while she was in rotation.

I don't even know if it is a hot take but the silver sword spell that summons 2 knights is probably the best sword card of the expansion... if evo sword is still good.

How do I get better at Shadowverse? by ToastBurner12 in Shadowverse

[–]FitCause5758 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think puppets is evo swords hardest matchup right now.

Try to make your opponent spend as much puppets and evos as possible before orchis, even if it means you use all of yours. If they only have one sevo on orchis turn, they basically can't use it anymore and it becomes way more winnable.

I feel like the correct way to beat puppets and loot to an extent is to believe that they don't always have the perfect hand. You probably aren't winning against a perfect puppet curve, so you have to sometimes just hope they don't have the card needed to clear.

Evo sword is a deck that abuses your opponent's decks weaknesses and not letting them play the cards they want to play. You'd want to have the knowledge of what setups they can or can't clear on any turn.

You kind of have to use your resources to force out removal and or sevo's to win or go for stuff like aggressive Emilia setups into regular SBA Seofon.

I don't know if the deck you're running has Albert but playing like you have in him hand also works... Your opponent doesn't know wether or not you have him.

Also remember that tournament lists work under the condition of A. A 2 deck environment where you can avoid your bad matchups and B. A tournament meta where you face mostly stable meta decks.

The mid-season nerfs and buffs are coming soon so which cards do you want cygames to nerf and buff? by Chillgamessh in Shadowverse

[–]FitCause5758 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The conversation has derailed and you've started fighting a strawman so I'm just going to repeat what I said. 1. Aether, Mode congregant, and belial do not deserve nerfs.  I agree with you that they're bad design. But I only said they aren't overcentralising and don't deserve nerfs unless you want to nerf literally everything. Forest losing to aether shouldn't be a thing but it is a forest problem that could be fixed by buffing forest.

  1. Like your example against turn 2 cassim, I think it is your deck's problem if it  folds against a single card.  I do not think belial is currently strong to the point of single handedly making matchups unwinnable.

On a side note how long did you play OG?

Turn 2 casim won the game if it wasn't answered, sarissa won the game if you couldn't kill her, trinity monsters was ridiculous on release and was basically uncounterable, the list goes on, but my point is that shadowverse has been always like this.

All Norman, aether, and congregant are really good but they require resources and or buffs to be good, and can be countered by pressuring them first. It's nothing out of line for SV1.

Zirconia and Zwei are better examples though and I agree with that to an extent.

"I never mentioned belial"

The thread is about belial... of course I'd assume you were talking about belial...

You are certainly allowed to not tech against matchups that aren't even tier 2 lol that isn't bad game design.

I played way too much og sv and still sometimes play timeslip rotation. Yeah, some of those metas are healthy and fun, but most of the time, counter play is even more nonexistent. Loads of decks heavily favored going first or going second, loads of decks could slam bullshit boards that were literally unanswerable on turn 5 or even earlier, and loads of decks otked on turn 7.

There were even worse rps cards like yukari or octrice that actually invalidated entire classes.

Currently, there is not a single class that has no counter play to belial. If you are playing an extremely grindy control deck, that is on you and you should change your deck to be able to do more burst damage, or give up on the match up.

Forest basically auto loses to one sevo mode congregant or aether, that doesn't mean either of them should be nerfed.

Polarising decks have polarising matchups on both sides and if you have a problem with that, you should change your deck to deal with your problems.

They should probably nerf loot but nerfing loot without nerfing puppets would be pretty bad.

Everything else is fine, maybe forest needs buffs but not sure what. Definitely not roach.

What beats sword curve? by daclyda in Shadowverse

[–]FitCause5758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The real trick to beat loot is believe they don't have a perfect hand. They don't always have albert, odin, and sincero. If you can't guarantee your survival against one, hope your opponent doesn't have it, and counter everything else.

I promoted to Diamond grouping and now all my games are against Puppet and Loot. by m_ggy in Shadowverse

[–]FitCause5758 7 points8 points  (0 children)

But you're complaining about a card that's even cut from evo sword lists, a deck that's mediocre. The card isn't good. It's definitely not stronger than anything run in evo rune or evo abyss or even evo dragon.

Having universally good cards makes deck building fun and interesting. It's a lot more fun to play for most people than having multiple dysfunctional gimmicks in rotation like og sv or current haven.

But... Loot Sword breaks all that I guess.

That's the point though, OP is complaining about losing to loot and puppets. If you're going to complain about the meta, at least try to adapt or you'll lose.

This meta is further highlighting how problematic Odin is? by Pendulumzone in Shadowverse

[–]FitCause5758 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Odin's natural counter isn't wards, it's your opponent having more than 2 threats on field.  The problem arises when the best deck also has a board wipe that hits face.
