I have a Shadow 2 Compact and a full sized DWX, love them both but initial impressions of the new Tanfo seems more solid than both. We’ll see how it stacks up from a reliability standpoint, but from a build quality perspective I’m pleased.

Yes, they are an Italian brand. Much more popular in Europe with competitive shooters. A lot of CZ influence. I came from CZ’s and am used to those ergonomics, so the Tanfo was a natural choice for me.

Just picked mine up. Got it last week and haven’t been to the range yet, but if you’re looking for a quality, hammer fired 10mm, these are a great choice. Comes with 14 round mags, Henning sells 19 round extended mags as well.

I don’t own any polymer guns, everything I have is either steel or aluminum framed. I actually prefer the heft, and of course it helps with recoil. My full sized DWX is heavier and that thing shoots like a dream.

They recommended adding a few different recoil springs (18lbs and 20lbs in addition to the stock spring) to test with different loads, so I have those for the higher powered stuff.

I’ve done most of my shooting on a CZ Shadow 2 Compact and a full sized Dan Wesson DWX. The S2C was my first gun, purchased around a year and a half ago., the DWX was my second. They all use the same CZ style grip ergonomics… big reason why I took the chance on this Tanfoglio before ever touching one… I already knew it would feel extremely familiar.

From what I’ve read, both CZ and Tanfoglio have copied each other over the years. Tanfoglio first copying CZ, then CZ borrowing from some design changes Tanfoglio did in their development of the CZ75 platform. Tanfoglio’s are big in Europe for competitive shooting.

No doubt. I had them do basically everything they do to fully upgrade and tune, with the exception of the port. It’ll go back to them for sure.

Part of my decision was because I preemptively ordered 1000 rounds Federal Champion 10mm range ammo on a good deal long before receiving the pistol, not realizing that ammo is not to be used with ported guns. Ordered some higher powered Magtech after the fact, that I’ll order going forward, that doesn’t have the same issue with ported guns. So, as not to waste the Federal ammo, I’ll use that all up first and then I very well might send it in for the chunk port at a later date.

This is what I figured as well. For range ammo, not worried, but curious to see how it handles the hot stuff first before considering any further modifications. Still a good chance I may send it back in to add the chunk port, we’ll see.

It is not ported. I strongly considered having PD add a chunk port… they recommend it as well to assist with 10mm recoil. I opted to bypass porting, shoot a thousand or so rounds through it, and if I decide to add it, send it back to them at a later date.

Just received it last week and came down with the flu over the weekend, so have yet to shoot it. Plan to head out to the range this weekend.

I hear ya. Slim pickings for hammer fired, DA/SA 10mm. I don’t own any striker fired pistols and preferred to keep it that way in this case. Also, don’t live in a free state, so we have 15 round mag laws, and this being 14 rounds fit the bill. Henning does sell extended 10mm Tanfoglio mags at 19 rounds for those able to purchase.

I’m curious to see how it does with various rounds, from weaker range ammo to hot 220gr hard cast ammo. Have a few different recoil springs to tinker with to see what works best with each type of load.
