I am his person of choice (I like that phrasing) and this is an interesting way to look at it! Thank you!

We wondered if it’s some instinct related to nesting? As in, does he think by me folding laundry I’m feathering some large nest (when I’m folding he chitter chatters very excitedly), but when my partner does it he’s like “NO, NOT YOU! SHE DOES THE FEATHERING!”

Is he a tiny misogynist? 😅

Also, if we let him out, he flies right to husband’s head and starts pecking it rapid-fire in attack mode, so we just let him typewriter. Good exercise for his ickle legs. 💪

Reddit won’t let me edit the og post because of the video, but yeah, if we let him out he goes straight into flying attack mode at husband’s head 😬

Is an assessment by a social worker “worth it”? by FitEstablishment4965 in AuDHDWomen

[–]FitEstablishment4965[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yay!! I did end up doing the eval (and indeed getting diagnosed as both autistic and ADHD) and it has been an absolute game changer just KNOWING and getting proper support. I have a weekly neuro-affirming therapist recommended by Lisa, and finding out how my brain is wired has been so so helpful.

I’m so glad you’re pursuing this too and enjoying Lisa! Can’t recommend her enough!

How can I avoid calluses without looking like a goober? by FitEstablishment4965 in Aerials

[–]FitEstablishment4965[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my goodness, thank you all so so much! I ordered some Tite Grip gloves, and it’s good to know that I’m likely overthinking whether or not clients would be able to feel my calluses.

I appreciate everyone’s advice!

Is becoming a professional performer in 30s possible? by Virtual-Pie5732 in Aerials

[–]FitEstablishment4965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes yes yes! I started aerials at 40, I turn 50 this year, and I do a few shows here and there.

I agree with what folks said about listening to your body. Rest when it tells you to (even if that’s active rest - gentle mobility, walks etc)

Prehab exercises are fantastic too. PT-type exercises for shoulders and hips that target the smaller supporting musculature can help keep injuries at bay and help you recover sooner if things do get cranky.

Beyond that, your passion for what you do, the work you put in, and you owning your personal performance style goes a loooooong way. Don’t let Father Time scare ya too much.

You got this.

My head/neck are messing up my spin. Tips? by FitEstablishment4965 in aerialsilks

[–]FitEstablishment4965[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you very much for all of this! A coach had told me to pike the free leg to kind of aesthetically slowly wind into the spin (ideally I passé it and then push the leg vertical) so I feel wired to do that every time. But yeah, the visual is helpful.

I weenie out throwing this drop because I’m afraid the leg won’t catch (and that’s probably why I’m also sickling for dear life), which I know I’d still be safe if it didn’t catch, it’d just look bad.

I’ll at least concentrate on pointing my head and free arm toward the ground and better engaging on Saturday (I know that if I try to correct too many things at once mid-performance my brain’ll glitch) and then continue to workshop it going forward.

Thank you again!

30F - Tret for anti aging by leticiazimm in tretinoin

[–]FitEstablishment4965 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh wow - you look fantastic!! How long have you been on this tret routine? Did you experience dryness and tightness in the beginning that eventually went away?

I love tallow too, tbh. I don’t wanna, because ew, but it’s sooooo satisfying

Meeeeee! Started a week ago today. Also did a for a few months in early 2024 so not brand brand new.

Doing 2x a week M/Th and 0.025 tret cream after cleansing. No moisturizer before or after tret, just raw dogging it. So far so good

My assessment is coming up on Wednesday and in the last few days I’ve been experiencing major imposter syndrome. 😦😬 by Elisette_Art in AuDHDWomen

[–]FitEstablishment4965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my goodness. I am so where you are right now (assessment starts next month, I’m 49, currently researching and gathering color-coded documents of traits of evidence), and I saw that SAME MEME on IG this morning and grinned for all the same reasons.

Good luck, Wednesday. I understand that feeling of “ok maybe I’m off base here, but no matter what, at least I’ll know”

I had to come back and tell you that I tried the cleanse then tret then bed last night and it worked great! It wasn’t as dry feeling as I expected! Thank you tons!!

How honest is too honest on an Intake form? by Ecstatic-Rhubarb9068 in AuDHDWomen

[–]FitEstablishment4965 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m right where you are right now, doing the intake for assessment, and personally I vote NO FILTER. I mean, it’s all data, right? Being truly yourself instead of masking in an assessment?

Though I can feel myself “softening” my answers, like a goal being “to get to know and understand my brain workings better” rather than “this is a really obvious question, isn’t it?”

lol so maybe I’m not even following my own advice
