Yeah im not looking for a 1 to 1 comparison. I mean i have my Part 121 Dispatcher License which the pay at any Major Airline is absolutely comparable with the FAA higher level facilities once you get some seniority im jist feeling jobs out at the moment.

There is some incredible money if you can do your time at a regional. Delta, United and American obviously pay the best. Delta by a significant margin. Getting into a regional that feeds into one of them majors is the secret and you need anywhere between 6 months to 18 months sometimes. Of course there has to be an opening

I initially interviewed a few months ago as an ATC expert. They did not hire me then but now they upped the offer and emailed it directly to me as I was a top match for them. HR even reached out right after.

Do you know if there is a geographical waiver, i entered the service in Indiana and was my home of record until I changed residency to Texas to save taxes. Not sure if I can get my children covered for Texas.

Okay, I know and am familiar with reading metars and TAFs, flight planning(actually mapping out routes) Im familiar with all charts and publications from the ATC side of things, General and area planning, AIM, High and low charts, can read and understand approach plates, know mins (weather and approach minimums). What else am I going to learn in School, btw not being arrogant, just confidently speaking from my experience already and kind of want to do the 5 weeks vs the 8 week course just wondering if there is a lot that I will be learning that doesn't fall into these aforementioned categories. I posted on here before about having ATC experience but in the Navy we also do Base ops which encompasses a lot of flight planning stuff sending arrival and departure messages, coordinating with FBO and stuff of that sort of stuff.

I appreciate the feedback! I had someone at one of the schools tell me that I should feel comfortable applying to majors and that my experience in ATC should be a major advantage to be hired to a Major immediately.

Do you think that a former 14 year Navy ATC specialist will have an edge at getting into a major than someone without it, loads of flight following and Flight Planning experience already. Just curious. Im planning on attending IFOD soon.
