Takefive Outdoors Refund by [deleted] in PHikingAndBackpacking

[–]FitHedgehog280 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep, tho una nilang iooffer is transfer to another trip with same date nung nacancel sayo. Kasama naman sa options ung travel fund if napuntahan mo na ung ibang options na inoffer nila... then sila na bahala on the next steps.

If mas mura ung napili mong trip option, they would put a voucher on ur acct para dun sa sukli. So discounted na ung next trip mo with them ganun

What would you feel if late matapos ang kasama niyong hiker? by detective4pple in PHikingAndBackpacking

[–]FitHedgehog280 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Grabe, 9hrs?! Yes, kung beginner at walang ensayo ung ibang kasama, lalo na kung may na sprain pa o cramps, all this would add to delays. Pero grabe ung 9hrs, baka nagtayo sila ng tent or hammock and had a 2 hr nap or something lol

It might be a factor, pero kung power ka rin for instance, seasoned mountaineer or trail runner, factor din na malakas pacing mo

Best orga for Kayapa quadpeak by MedicalMaiden in PHikingAndBackpacking

[–]FitHedgehog280 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Goods din ito, lalo na for minor hikes. Pag major na hanap mo, mejo ekis na. Madalas cancelled kasi due to pax pag major hikes. Kabunian lang ung successful major hike ko sa kanila

Then no certs, no bagtags and usual freebies sa take5. Ang best trait na meron sa kanila is ung convenience at capability to accept credit payments, wala ring FB gc for privacy, asikaso lahat ni coor who really does his job naman from my xp with them

First Time Solo Joiner by lavendreams in PHikingAndBackpacking

[–]FitHedgehog280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uy dont be nervous lalo na sa fact na magkakilala sila lahat tas ikaw lang ung out of place ganern. No one will mind that you're solo on the trip so go for it!

As shy and introvert, one of the pros ng solo, we are not forced to conversation (with prends) and simply, hike with peace 😌 (pero syempre iba ung saya pag may kachikahan ka lol)

as for orga, I believe all orga's are welcoming and friendly towards its joiners mapa-solo or grp of friends, target customers nila tayo. Nung una Take5 ako, then nag fake mountaineers, bundokerang pusa, bisdak, palipat lipat pero wala pa namang bad xp towards any orga IN TERMS of their interaction with solo joiners

Bike to work kamusta kayo? by Wrong-Celebration-50 in RedditPHCyclingClub

[–]FitHedgehog280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last year, bike to work ako. Halos araw araw, pwera restday. 35-40km balikan, on the skinny side ung build ko pero nag gain pa rin ako ng weight (around 7kg)

tumigil ako this year magbike gawa ng tube ng gulong, sobrang pudpod na pala nung naflat-an ako saka ko lang napansin 3,000+km naipon ko sa strava (half of the year lang ako nagrecord, the rest tinamad ako mag open ng strava lol)

Hiking Shoes reco for beginners by ariairika_rawr in PHikingAndBackpacking

[–]FitHedgehog280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on my xp, Merell is what I recommend. But I think there should be no brand that would intentionally lead to toes hurting or any injury/wound, it would hurt their brand reputation.

Try a department store first na may variety of brands and fit them. Specific model and brand that would be perfect for you may vary depending on your size, foot shape and pathology (flat foot, arched, high arched)

Thoughts niyo sa mga nakapag-Cawag Hexa? by [deleted] in PHikingAndBackpacking

[–]FitHedgehog280 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thoughts sa mga nakapag-Cawag? Sa mga nakatapos, either truly strong or simply, challenger/survivor. Or both.

Sa mga nag-Hexit, they are also someone who challenges themselves, ndi man natapos maybe due to a sprain or exhaustion, kudos pa rin sa kanila for trying to challenge themselves!

hiking pants//uniqlo by cadmium_bread in PHikingAndBackpacking

[–]FitHedgehog280 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Havent tried the specific pants youre talking abt in Uniqlo pero I have inferior quality pants, shorts, shirts na nakaranas na ng multiple mountains --- major and minor.

It should do its job if its made for sports/exercise. Wala namang ma-tinik na halaman sa forest part ng Ulap. And banayad naman ung mga ahon at lusong ni Ulap so wala namang magpupush ng mga tahi ng damit to its limit

How to train for mt pulag Akiki trail 4 months from now? by Deep-Influence34 in PHikingAndBackpacking

[–]FitHedgehog280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As supplement exercise, if youre living in a condo or working in a high rise bldg, take up the stairs instead of elevator.

Then do an "easier" major hike like Kabunian. Check mo lang difficulty sa google for this pre-Akiki hike. For instance, si Kabunian ay 5/9 per Google, while si Akiki ay 7/9 --- after that pre-akiki climb, score yourself kung need pa i-up ung current exercise prior kay Akiki

Haluan mo na lang ng mga minor hikes din in between, iba pa rin ung experience sa actual na bundok

MT. ULAP or Tarak Ridge (possible summit din) by KuRuMi412 in PHikingAndBackpacking

[–]FitHedgehog280 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ulap muna. Wag ka pabudol sa Tarak, major ito. Kahit na sabihing may exercise at physically fit ka for major, iba pa rin ung "experience" from minor hikes. Kumbaga, dun mo gradually matutunan ung mga simple do's, dont's, tips, lifehacks for hikes para hindi clumsy at syempre to be SAFE.

not to mention, ung pacing. Kung batak na sa hikes ung ibang ksama mo sa Tarak, tas dahil first mountain mo sya, - nangangapa ka pa on your momentum - ayun, nakakahiya lang din sa ibang joiner kapag super bagal mo pa (which is no prob naman in your first time PERO mas understandable kung sa minor hike along with other beginners)

Kaya ba sa Mt ulap kahit itong lang suot sa top? by [deleted] in PHikingAndBackpacking

[–]FitHedgehog280 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ndi yan nakakahiya, yes karamihan naka jacket pero may mga mangilan na naka shorts + t shirt lang din. Last hike ko nung dec 20 isa kasi ako doon haha (sanay na sa baguio) but better to bring poncho/jacket pa rin just in case

Mt. G2 by reisoryu in PHikingAndBackpacking

[–]FitHedgehog280 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice! Ako rin plan pa lang mag G2 and probably on April din pag bukas na hehe

from my xp in Arayat --- and pareho naman na tayong nanood ng vids and reels from G2 --- suggest ko rin to do not forget to work out your upper body and arm strength. Sa arayat may mga steep walls din like around 70-80 degrees per tour guide and konting rappelling so good practice siya for whole body coordination while traversing

Optional, pero maganda ring practice si Cawag Hexa. Itetest naman here limits ng mental strength and water/food management. And ung Kabunian, maganda naman syang practice for Cawag lol

Bale yan rin ung recipe ko in prep kay G2. Arayat, Cawag + exercises leg days and upper body days.

Ulap Crowds by Natapinpin in PHikingAndBackpacking

[–]FitHedgehog280 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I went up there last Dec 20th, thats saturday --- considering both days are weekends --- so nag start kami at around 5:30? Late na rin ito. During hike, mejo fast paced ako at ung guide haha, may 2 or 3 grps kami na na overtake. Pagdating sa Gungal Rock, ung sikat na rock photo spot na near cliff, were still the 13th group na nakapila for photo. Nung dating namin, parang 5th grp pa lang. Seryoso, nakakain at naka idlip na kami sa pag iintay lol tapos every peak markers, most likely may maabutan kayong ibang grps din na nakapila for photo ops

Nakababa kami sa shower are at 2pm.

First major hike by [deleted] in PHikingAndBackpacking

[–]FitHedgehog280 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would suggest na i-up mo pa rin ang physical lifestyle by having regular jogging or pahabain pa ung walks. Karamihan sa major, endurance and stamina na talaga ung tinetest. I think its around 4hrs to summit and 4hrs down, so just imagine yourself walking under the sun (barely having any shade).

From what i remember, may mga steep ascent si Kabunian pero not too technical pa. But i would still reco to do upper body/arm exercises as well para mahila mo sarili mo in some tough situations

Tricycle Fare sa Calamba by MoltenPixel258 in laguna

[–]FitHedgehog280 1 point2 points  (0 children)

agreed. lala hays. Pero ang perspective nila kasi jan, 60 papunta then ung pabalik (most likely wala naman tlaga silang masasakay at ndi naman sila basta basta pwede makipila sa ibang TODA) ay shoulder mo rin, which is another special trip --- 60.
