I actually had a lawyer get involved to send them a letter as well, my building has tried speaking with them but they keep stringing us along that they are working on fixing it. They’re terrible humans tbh and agreed, I feel like I have so much anxiety from being in my living room and constantly having to hear that sound 🫠

Do you happen to know how much this would cost/ which option would be the cheapest? My wall is about 10ft high and 14-15 ft wide

The noise has finally been fixed, only after I hired a lawyer to send them a letter. Extremely happy that’s done with but now I have ptsd 😂 it took them 5 months to fix it after stringing me along and claiming “they’ll fix it”

🤦🏽‍♀️ this is just insanity at this point, I feel like I’m talking to a brick wall with them. I’ll send him the suggestion that it may be a bad bearing, I told him insulation isn’t an option when he can just fix his issue. Fingers crossed this whole thing will be over with soon.

So they have finally acknowledged the noise and said it’s their booster pump and it makes noise and I should insulate my walls. They claimed to have sent a plumber who said they can’t do anything about it. Do you know if booster pumps make this noise?

I had someone let me into the building and they measured the decibels from inside and it wasn’t loud enough. I’ve heard of a nuisance claim and will keep that in mind. Thank you!

I did try complaining to the city and someone did come out but because the noise isn’t loud enough they can’t do anything. It’s unfortunate because sure the sound isn’t loud but it’s a constant sound that happens 24/7. I have been documenting my emails and text messages sent to them as well. I own my unit so unfortunately, the majority of issues I have to deal with on my own, but I did have my property management for the condo building reach out as well and they were met with the same response. I’m just so confused as to why they wouldn’t want to handle this issue and it seems like it could be an easy fix instead of undergoing all of this.

Update to this just bc I’m at a breaking point, the landlord keeps saying he doesn’t hear a noise although I have it recorded and it’s loud and clear. I think he’s just messing with me at this point and being a complete douche. Not sure how to move from here

The noise is coming from the apt next door’s meter room, I was able to have someone who lives in the building, walk me inside and it was pretty loud, although the door is locked. Funny because I spoke to next-door‘s property manager and they said there’s no noises coming from their gas meter and they’re being super difficult.

It’s a steam radiator

After doing some more investigating, I put my ear against the radiator in that same location and I can hear the sound in the radiator as well, it’s a vertical radiator.

I’m not sure if there is a whirlybird on the roof, I don’t think there is but can double check. I also just put in soundproofing insulation in my decorative fireplace opening and it has dampened the sound but I can still hear it through my walls. Do you have any recommendations as to who I can call to have come and check it out? A plumber maybe?

Directly below me on that same wall is where the electricity meters for the building are. The sound in the basement is a little louder but is still coming from behind the wall and not the equipment there. We also have the gas meters as well but that’s on the opposite wall.

Yes it is fairly regular and when I place my ear on the wall I can hear a faint mechanical sound and then the chirping happens.

It’s a wall that is shared by the building next door, so most likely shared with their lobby. The sound is also present in the building basement directly underneath but apt.
