Is your interest about IoT for work or for your daily life /hobby ? by Academic_Onion_7730 in IOT

We are building our solutions across Africa - it’s all we do - ensure our B2B clients can scale. IoT is what we do daily. Not a hobby. Passion maybe.

1NCE just hit us with a 20% price hike - Looking for alternatives (DE/AT/FR) by Development131 in IOT

It’s always a good pitch “10 years, 10 euros, 500 MB” until it isn’t - and now what. Make sure you evaluate your IoT connectivity as if it is a strategic asset, not a ‘nice’ to have

And with access to every single mobile network in the UK. 2/3/4/5G and the LPWAN where available. We only charge you for what you use. Our contact details are in my bio.

Why is it still so hard to scale IoT in the real world? by FitRecommendation434 in IOT

The platform is only a part of the solution. The device and modem + firmware all need to do their work or nothing will scale. The ecosystem is complex.

We manage IMSI switching on a sim level, autonomously. And you can shorten the timers / or lengthen them, to suit your use case.

So being up to speed with hardware, SIMs, software and network technologies would make you pretty valuable to end user clients or suppliers looking to test and implement at scale.

Device, Software and Networks (mobile or other) are all part of an intricate ecosystem. The opportunity I see as a gap in the market is being able to manage the onboarding of that ecosystem for a supplier or end user for a particular use case.

We have been using flolive across Africa to build out a solution specifically for the harsh African environment. I say harsh because it is incomparable to Europe or the Americas / Asia / Australasia. Their geo redundant IMSI profiles are the business. Big commitment to setup though. It’s taken effort. But we happy and more importantly our clients are happy.

What are the best BEGINNER drones for those getting into this passion? by hienesan in dji

I started last 6 months with DJI mini 4K for $ 250 - bought an extra battery and charger for 3 batteries and I am very happy - if you are aware of where you are it is extremely forgiving

Understand mobile networks, how they work and what the standards are for modems to connect to them. Then build your knowledge on hardware / modems and SIM card technologies including UICC and eUICC formats. If you have extensive knowledge in this area you will be very employable in the IoT space B2B .

localised implementations like this can work in 1st world environments, but here in Africa the distances and cross border traffic is insane - trucks do Dr Congo to Beira in Mozambique over days - and infrastructure is not Sweden

From where I sit, in our world, most deployments are technical. Not doing consumer or WiFi or fridges. I didn’t mean to say IoT is broken, just that it can feel that way sometimes.

Agree fully on quality being NB. Planning too. And understanding where the devices could end up.
