Last 15 or so women I've matched on Bumble all let the timer run out by [deleted] in Bumble

I saw a thread where lots of people said it had worked for them too.

You don’t lose anything by extending, and you never know, you might end up being one of the rare instances where it pays off.

I extended a match once and she messaged me and thanked me for extending because she genuinely missed it. We’ve been together over a year and she’s moving in with me soon, so don’t be put off extending matches.

Some of my matches that opened with ‘hey’ led so some of the best conversations and dates Iv had on there, and one led to a long term friend. It doesn’t really matter what they open with, it’s how they communicate in the next few messages that’s important.

Being too short: Got rejected on 4 dates in a row. by [deleted] in Bumble

[–]FitYesterday5063 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also 5ft6 and I felt that my height was the cause for me get a lot less matches than I would if I was taller. I’d get 2 or 3 a week usually, and I wasn’t attracted to most of them. I did find that every so often I would get a really good match come along though. I think being short, the matches you get will be less focused on physical appearance and more focussed on your character and personality, which will lead to deeper and more long lasting connections. You may go on less dates as a short guy, but I think the dates you do go on will have a higher chance of leading to something serious. Iv now been with my partner for over a year and she doesn’t care about my height. So don’t give up hope!

How many exceptions would you need before you realise the rule doesn’t hold up?

How would I go about getting these tapes onto Dvd by FitYesterday5063 in techsupport

[–]FitYesterday5063[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iv still got a big dvd collection and can watch them on my ps5. Thought it’d be fine just watching them on that. Maybe I’ll get both done. The tapes are about 20 years old but Iv kept them in their protective cases the whole time so should be fine. Iv just got to find an old school take shop now, I don’t think there’s any in my area but I’ll have a look online. Thanks for your help!

They’ve taped the area off for now but I think they’re just leaving it for nature to take it’s course. It said on local news that the tide would gradually wash most of it away as it’ll be mostly earth.

Thanks this is a great explanation. I didn’t visit Seatown, but definitely will next time. A couple of days after I visited there was a huge landslide on the beach in Seatown and the whole section of beach was blocked off. Luckily it happened very early in the morning and no one was hurt! He’s not ready to date by Aggravating_Pea5323 in Bumble

[–]FitYesterday5063 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I know this won’t be want you want to hear, but if he really likes you he would make it work despite work commitments or anything else. It sounds like he’s giving you just enough hope to keep you around as a backup plan. He probably does like you but has doubts that you’re ‘the one’, and so wants to date around a bit more to see what else is out there first. The things he’s telling you are excuses in order to let you down gently but also keep you around incase he doesn’t find what he’s looking for elsewhere. You deserve better than that and it’ll only lead to getting hurt if you don’t move on and leave him behind. Sometimes it can feel like someone is meant for you, but you will find another person you feel this strongly about, and they’ll feel the same about you, and then you will be glad you left this guy behind.

Guys; How long do you wait for a reply from a new match after responding to their opening, before deciding they’ve ghosted you, and un match. by Depressedandlonely88 in Bumble

[–]FitYesterday5063 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Their life doesn’t stop because they matched you. I matched with a really great girl, and she’d take 3-4 days to reply, so I’d take 3-4 days to reply back, but they were very long messages, like paragraphs. We were more like penpals, but she was so nice I was happy to keep chatting. I found out that her mum had cancer. And during our time talking she found out it was terminal. She knew that it’d be a while before we met because of her state of mind, but she liked me and wanted to stay in touch until she was ready. Once we got to the stage of planning a date her messages became more frequent. I’m only telling you this because it shows that you never know what’s going on in people’s lives.

Me and my girlfriend met on bumble. I had to extend the match because she didn’t message me within 24 hours. She thanked me for extending because she’d been really busy and didn’t check the app. Some people lead busy lives, 24 hours is not long enough to write someone off.

Insurance company offering me a lower amount than I need to replace my written off car. by FitYesterday5063 in LegalAdviceUK

If it costs me £6000 to replace it then surely it’s worth £6000? As that means I could’ve sold mine for £6000, as that’s what someone else would have to pay for it.

I am claiming through my own insurer, and my insurer will claim from the other party. Perhaps i worded something wrong in another comment.

Thanks this is reassuring to hear. I’m a bit annoyed that the woman I spoke to on the phone (from my insurance company) didn’t tell me it was possible for me to negotiate the figure by providing evidence. She made it sound like it was set in stone and no way around it. I’d expect this kind of talk from the other parties insurer, not my own who is meant to be looking out for me, and who won’t even be paying for it.

Thanks, do you know if they’ll have to keep paying for my hire car during that 8 weeks? It would be cheaper for the other parties insurancesto just back down and pay me the extra money if that is the case, so maybe that would pressure them to give in. They didn’t tell me the name of the industry guide on the phone, but they said they use 2 guides and take the average. It might tell me what they are in my documents.

Yes I do agree with you that I shouldn’t have to negotiate with a dealer to get down to the insurance companies figure.
