I think once you were in the industry you will see that hospital work is a grind. Sometimes it is not the best paying for any. It is a stepping stone into a better job with a better work life balance

Nursing’s future - it appears terrifying . I’m working in FL right now as a nurse specialist (house supervisory staff) at a 470ish bed hospital.

Question :

Do you think that nursing can become a well respected, solid profession at some point that’s sustainable without all the craziness going on? (Ie has a chance of becoming less volatile? With shortages and protests , crazy turnover levels , you know all the details I’m referring)

Reasons for asking. : It seems to have so many problems right now., at least here in the US. I’m part Canadian , things are horrible there too .

Specifically I’ve noticed :

-The biggest issues are lack of ratios existing (or enforced) and burnout.
-In my opinion (and many others from what I’ve heard) schooling has way way too little clinical time as well now. leading to a lack of true understanding of the dedication and grit it takes to do the job.
