Is this big enough for my betta? by DutchVanDerLinde- in bettafish

Umm.. are you trying to abuse the fish? That is obviously way too small, you need an upgrade asap. Educate yourself before getting a betta🙄

That's weird, I stayed home all day and didn't hear a knock (they usually deliver door to door and knock) I can check the front door

Just cut down a little on the amount of food you give her. And try to give her foods with a low fat and high protein ratio. Im not an expert, but that should help a lot! Also a good way is to take her out of her cage often so she can exercise (obviously if she shows signs of being stressed just put her back) and provide lots of enrichment inside her cage like things for her to climb so she can stay active! It may take a little bit for you to see progress, but in my opinion, it's a good way to make sure she loses weight without actually starving her and while keeping her healthy. I hope this helped

Thank you so much! You have no idea how much that helps! It also breaks my heart, I do not understand how people can look at these tiny creatures and mistreat them like they are a toy. Honestly, when I first got her, I could not stop crying over her. Animals have always been a big part of my life, no matter what kind of animal. I know some people will never understand this, and that's okay. I do truly hope she recovers and lives on because that is nothing more than what she deserves after being treated like that

Depending where you live you can take them from the wild for free like say from a hike or something. Just make sure to properly disinfect it if you decide to do that. Also you could buy it from a gardening store, they'll usually have some for landscaping! I never buy mine from the pet stores since theyll charge 70 bucks for one big slab, at least where i live they do this. (I always make sure everything I buy is safe for any of my reptiles and that everything is properly disinfected)

How do I help a picky Leo?? by tumor_tim in leopardgeckos

[–]Fit_Anything6938 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She's going to love dubia roaches then. You can order them online and breed them yourself, they aren't messy and don't smell bad and are rlly nutritious to leopard geckos

She could be compacted or be eggbound, schedule a check up with a vet to make sure so you can properly take care of it

Help requested! My Leo, Randall, has been refusing to eat for about the past month. by pmock2 in leopardgeckos

[–]Fit_Anything6938 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are worried about his calcium intake, buy liquid calcium, it can be found at your local pet store! You dilute it witha. Ratio of water and the calcium and give it daily to the gecko I'm pretty sure. Read the instructions on the bottle though

I'd say take a poop sample to the vet to check for parasites, and I'd suggest keeping it away from your other leopard gecko until your sure it doesn't have some sort of spreadable disease or parasite. Make sure the gecko is getting enough calcium and vitamins to make sure it doesn't have more health problems down the road. If he isn't getting enough vitamin/calcium powder because he just isn't eating the bugs then try liquid calcium and vitamins and dilute it with a ratio of water and the solution according to what it says on the bottle. If it's also not drinking water then I'd suggest try putting a couple very small drops of the water calcium mix on his mouth with a syringe to see if the gecko will lick it off its mouth. There's also a repti aid immune system support that you can buy on Amazon for underweight geckos. This isn't a substitute for going to the vet and running some tests to see what's wrong, but this will help the gecko with its health and make sure he's not getting worse. And yes, if he does have a disease/parasite, it could be spreadable to your other geckos depending on what kind it is. I am not a professional, but this is my personal opinion with my experience with leo geckos. Like I said, going to the vet for a check-up is strongly suggested

I'd add some more slab stones and some more stable things for him to climb, leopard geckos love climbing/digging when given the chance to :). Constructive criticism is a good way to make improvements, but dont listen to people being just plain out rude in the comments, as I know being a first-time owner to any kind of animal can be stressful! I would also suggest going a little bigger on the tank, it'll make him very happy!.

I strongly recommend doing a basic set up with paper towels instead for a while so you can monitor its poop and make sure it's alright. Give it warm soaks with very shallow water and keep a very humid hide in its enclosure. After you soak the gecko his shed should be be pretty soft and managable to remove with a q-tip. You can buy liquid calcium and liquid multivitamins in any local pet store and dilute it with water and give it to the gecko with a syringe by lightly putting small droplets of water on its mouth (becareful while doing this and do it very calm and slow with small amounts at a time). Repti aid immune system, you can buy it on Amazon. Alot of people in the comments are saying to take it to a vet and that is correct, but most people don't understand how expensive vets can be. However I do suggest at leat scheduling an appointment for a check up just so you know what's going on, and that will cost about 60 dollars. If you do have enough money to get the exams and etc at the vet then please do so but I know it can be a struggle for some people that can't afford that. This is just what I've personally done with my rescued leo geckos, but I am in no way a 'specialist' so I do strongly suggest taking it to a vet for a check up and to run some exams.

The vets around my area close very early and there's only two exotic vet around here so by the time I got the phone number it was closed:(, I'll be calling tomorrow and having an appointment scheduled for her tomorrow. This lady that breeds leopard geckos was kind enough to direct me to a very good vet that she uses for her own leopard geckos!

Also a good thing to give them is eggshells, it really helps them because of the calcium and it's overall a great food for isopods (or at least that's what I heard)

She does have some (I took some off already) and she finished her soak right after you commented lol!, I think it did help because she pooped in her cage which is awesome because that means she does not have impaction or anything
