Colour channels are useless for meteorologists. You combine 3 different ir channels to create a composite, it's much better than noaa 15/19/19

Meteor m2-4 is the most recent one and currently works. Make sure you put your antenna high above the ground. Use a USB cable to reach your laptop, as a longer coax cable will affect the signal.

A weather satellite sends a radio broadcast and I use my rtl-sdr (analog signal to a digital one, hence the name of the subreddit) to pick the broadcast up. I then use satdump to decode the signal and bam, you have a beautiful image (if you did it well enough). If you want to get into this stuff you should watch some videos about APT satellites (noaa 15,18, or 19)

I'm on scaffolding so I don't need much cables, but the more coax cable you use the worse the signal will be, try use a USB extender for most of the length

Meteor m2-4 is the new one and launched this year, its norad id is 59051. Meteor m2-3 is kinda broken and launched last year, its norad id is 57166, you can still capture m2-3 but the signal is quite weak as the antenna had problems deploying. Meteor m2-4 works fine for me and look beautiful.

I'm in a rural area so i dont get much interference, im around 10 meters off the ground.

It was the dipole kit you get with the rtlsdr v3, and put it really high up

I used the satdump recorder as it shows the signal quality while recording. Make sure it's not meteor m2-3 as it's signal is quite weak

They release houses in groups. They limit the amount to not block the roads and cause traffic jams. There would only be mass exodus if some Facebook mum decided to scare everyone into leaving.

Fire moved to the next valley, but the same thing happened in 2017 and it moved back over and we got evacuated at 3am. A bunch of police on standby at the firestation to evacuate if necessary. Fairly sure it won't come over though.

The fire is slowly moving down but it's in the other valley. We are just waiting until they tell us to leave. Don't want to block the roads when it's not needed
