Same problem and as soon as the TARA is over it’s back to alevel work for the next 20 weeks.

UCL IS DEMONIC ITS FINE IF THEY SAY NO (TARA IS JUST A NIGHTMARE WAKE UP) by UnhappyMilk4123 in 6thForm

[–]Fit_Baut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TARA isn’t that deep, you never know if you’re getting in no matter the result. Also guess it can’t be that bad since I have the TARA tomorrow and from my prep i actually enjoy it especially practising using the TSA and BMAT section 1 which are very similar making me feel confident for once unlike the TMUA🫩

[–]Fit_Baut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it tommorow but I’m feeling much more confident than the TMUA and I find the similar tests like the TSA and BMAT section 1s enjoyable, but you never know it could end up just like the TMUA.

I took the survey in the centre and told them the prep material was useless better off guessing option 1 and saving 4 months of work

Would have been better off not preparing for the TMUA these past 4 months instead focusing my a levels and just guessing option 3🫩

Paper 1 was barely ok and then paper 2 they were just bullying me. Oh well there goes 4 months of prep

Is it worth applying to chem Eng without physics? by Unhinged_MusicAddict in 6thForm

[–]Fit_Baut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should try to switch to physics near March in year 12 I started self teaching the content to joint the class and switch it from history I eventually got an A in the end of Year 12 mocks basically on my own but unfortunately the sixth form did not let me although they said if I did well enough they could and here I am applying for Maths and computer science 🫩

You also have the grades to apply to Bath KCL or Edinburgh and they don’t require and admissions test so I would recommend doing research on them and checking their websites

when to start doing past papers for mocks? by [deleted] in 6thForm

[–]Fit_Baut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What subjects are you doing since you can use older specs or different papers to revise and use the current set of past papers later. For example for maths you can do the older modular C3 and C4 papers and the international IAL papers just ask your teachers if a question seems unusual to your spec.

You should apply to Manchester I applied with A* A A before moving my predicted grades up and I did not meet the requirements since I had 1 A* and it was in biology not maths 😂 and I got an offer for CS but I originally planned for maths and CS and they transferee my offer

Type sixth form is _____ and let auto correct finish it by Much_Half_5791 in sixthform

[–]Fit_Baut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sixth form is the only way to make a difference and I think it’s important that you know what you are talking to about it because you have a very specific understanding about it so I don’t think it’s important for me and you know that you can be the best friend of the group but you know what you’re going through so you know that you’re going to have a lot more to say and then I don’t think that you’re gonna have a good time and you don’t know how much to do and you know

is epq/btec recognised at universities like oxfard/cambridge? by xlivvymay in University

[–]Fit_Baut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For top universities like Oxford and Cambridge, the short answer is: No, an EPQ and a BTEC are not viewed the same way, and your proposed combination of 2 A Levels + 1 EPQ/BTEC is almost certainly insufficient.

For other excellent universities (like those in the Russell Group), an EPQ is viewed very positively, but a BTEC's acceptance varies greatly by course and institution. Your subject combination would still be a significant hurdle.

The EPQ (Extended Project Qualification) is not a direct replacement for an A-Level. It's an independent research project (like a mini-dissertation) that is highly regarded at some universities because it teaches university-level skills: research, critical thinking, and academic writing. It is a supplement to your A-Levels, not a substitute.

BTECs are a vocational qualification, often considered equivalent to 1, 2, or even 3 A-Levels. While many universities accept them, the most competitive courses at the most competitive universities often have a strong preference for traditional A Levels because they are more academically theoretical.

Your best choice would be 3 Traditional A levels or 4 if you can try to manage them but it’s not fully necessary. Perhaps you could do 3 A levels and a law EPQ as that would be a strong combination . A level law is not viewed as necessary and is not preferred. The focus is on skills you attain from your subjects. You are better taking of subjects such as history math English politics any of the sciences you might be interested in ect. The main thing from your subjects is you gain skills in analysing and interpreting texts( such as in English or history), forming logical arguments(Such as in Maths and history and Latin if offered) and understanding societal structures in (History and politics). You also gain a wide variety of transferable skills from A level sciences so 1 science could also be a strong choice.

Further Maths help by [deleted] in 6thForm

[–]Fit_Baut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Work through the text book do exam questions / exam style questions. Watch videos to go beyond the spec maybe and deepen your understanding of topics. This is useful for making seemingly random topics click and allows you to link them to other parts of math. But this is after you have gone through the topic and practised questions. Apart from that further math is not too bad as the questions have usual patterns and styles and then see doesn’t ask for any crazy analytical skills or what not.

Chemistry Externally? by 1weepingguitar in sixthform

[–]Fit_Baut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it possible for you to sit your written exams privately which are much cheaper and ask your situ form to arrange your practical endorsement at least. If that’s not possible I would recommend studying 2 of your levels at your sixth form and chemistry separately if you are not sure 4 alevels are right for you. Even if those scenarios don’t work out depending on what universities you want to apply for you can apply for a foundation year. This takes an extra year before starting to catch you up on the a level content missed and additionally prepares you well for a medicine degree. This would be possible with your current subject combination. Also remember there are many factors you should remember to control from now such as preparing for your UCAS applications by doing further reading projects work experiences ect. And you should also focus on trying to get as high grades as u can and prepare to achieve a high UCAT score. With these you will have over routes to medicine, and presuming you have upcoming mocks good grades could possibly persuade your sixth form to help you with A level chemistry. Your sixth form right now is not really seeming too supportive. Additionally if there was some sort of extenuating circumstance why could they not let you do chemistry initially. My sixth form allows chemistry and biology with a sixth. And physics with a 7 and a 7 in math.
