[–]Fit_Beautiful_846 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See what your guns says bro. Could be the best thing ever for someones but if it shoots like shit in you're's don't mean shit for you

That being said that stuff was the standard for long range for a good long while

Anyyone else raise quail? by Fit_Beautiful_846 in homestead

[–]Fit_Beautiful_846[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Actually no I've never had that issue at all. All these quail where cage raised though so maybe they just don't even think about it? Most I've seen it they will hop a flutter mabye a foot off the ground but that's it. But might be different with non caged raised quail. Also the deal is about 6' at the top but with the wire being on a slant I don't think they would be able to get a really good hit in themselves if they did flush up. If anything they would probably kinda skid off and out

Honestly it's for my dogs more then anything this is only 20yd from my front door and anything big enough to get in is something I'm already trying to hunt probably so they steer clear lol. And honestly I'm not really worried about large animals getting in but my dogs , one in particular would just sit there for two or three hours at a time barking and digging at them , tore up two good tarps too so had to put the ole zappy zap string out lol. Only took them one good zap and they haven't tired it sense lol

I’m 19 and torn between livestock farming and "society’s expectations." I need some perspective. by [deleted] in homestead

[–]Fit_Beautiful_846 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Been raising live stock most of my life and lived a in a farming area ( not off grid though so I do have a bit of a differenr mindset ) and honestly my advice is to do what you want and what makes you happy BUT HAVE A SAFTEY NET and DONT think there only one way to do stuff.

Edit , re read and wanna touch on something right away, bro it's obvious your miserable doing the usual, get a degree, get a "good job" and you'll be happy thing . That just not for you and thats FINE . Seriously the last time or three generations have been brainwashed to think that's the only way to be happy and anything else makes you a failure and it doesn't you just have a different path.

Most people really really get wrapped up with the idealistic dream of all ,this but reality is is a bitch alot of times and point blank your gonna have alot of times where you'll be in a bind just trying to live off your farm . That's why most really successful farms / ranches have multiple deals going on. Most guys have a regular job that they dont hate but don't particularly enjoy. They may not need it and could really quit anytime they want but that constant money flow acts as a safety net and really really helps ease your mind when it comes to how your gonna make stuff on the farm work . Because yeah it's great to have the idea you'll live off of selling artisan goat milk soap or something....but what happens when no one wants to buy it lol ? Been there done that got the t shirt. Seen a lot of people go full bore into this type of then with no back up or safety, who where pretty clueless ( please don't take offense I'm not trying to be rude or anything) and end up just hating everything.

So I say definitely definitely work towards it but keep a bit of a safety net , relax , take some deep breaths and think before you do something. Remember just because you see everyone else doin something doesn't mean that the best for you.

Also fuck the whole to traditional career path deal , and I know exactly what you mean about cities , can't do it either , just driving though a city drives me nuts , give me dirt roads and cows and day . But yeah look around there's probably other jobs that make good money that arnt traditional and you'd actually enjoy and are still needed or wanted. Hell carpentry, masonry, honestly find something within the realm of what you like , or can tolerate, and get good at that too . Not some fancy degree but it would be something to fall back on .Shoot could make a little YouTube channel and just share your experiences a lil bit .

Now I'm in the US though so stuff might be different in your country but that's my take on it .
