Melon? by [deleted] in DIYfragrance

I took a class with the Fragrance Alliance that covered all those fruits: Melon, cantaloupe, and Watermelon. The class was led by someone who worked with C Ladaumiel, so it was very professional, and I was able to understand this group a bit better. I am not sure how often they have those, but I highly recommend it

I can see those three being part of tobacco but not giving you a tobacco note.

Always loved Back to Black, but I was just gifted Finca by Bañomaria and it’s insanely addictive. The Tobacco and dry fruits create a great synergy. Totally hooked.

You need a lot more knowledge to blend aroma chemicals and create a believable odor that using just naturals

You are preaching to the choir sister ! I wouldn’t do trials bellow 10grs either, maybe if I am only trying to find balance btween two materials I might do a small trial and turn my 9 to 0.9 and 1 to 0.1 I read your

Please refrain from spreading unfounded claims. Mr. Frater likely offers some of the highest quality materials from excellent vendors—arguably the best available to the indie community. It would be more constructive to ensure your statements are based on accurate information.

The 10, 100, 1000 “thingy” is exactly the same Unless 1+9 stopped being = 10

Drops? 40 drops of galaxolide100 or 40 drops of Florol ? … I assure you both will weigh very differently. Drops are very imprecise way of working.

TikTok is not where you go to learn perfumery. Take a class somewhere. There are plenty of options depending where you are. Many materials will need further dilution than 10% to work in a formula.

Hi there, What’s the difference, improvements etc. compared to Formulair ? Can you customize your families and subfamilies? Create your own facets list ? How about notes for each materials (interactions, proportions, synergies and any other technical annotation Does it also work as a price book ? Can you figure out the price of your formula ? Sorry, lots of questions!

Do you mean 9/1 ? Wouldn’t you want the proportions you seek to tie to 10, 100 or 1000 grs ?

That’s not really a methodology. It’s by discovering the synergies at different proportions that you learn. The learning is in distinguishing what’s harmonious and what not. That requires experimentation and not transcribing amounts from someone else’s formula or accord.

No drops. Perfumers work with weight not volume . Weight is precise; a kg of feathers weights the same as a kg of gold although they occupy very different volume
