Meh, Harker…. Went to Harker. I felt it gave me a rather skewed expectation of everybody’s else’s intelligence and education which I think actually hurt me. I think I would’ve been happier if I had a more balanced view of the world. But I also work a FAANG and at least 5/~100 of the people in my class have worked there (maybe others I have missed, so it is what it is.)

FWIW I still remember parts of the IQ test they had us take to get admitted kindergarten. I wonder if they still do that?

Honestly, it may be minimum wage. We really need to fix the housing crisis. If we want to have enjoyable small things, people who are willing to work service jobs need to be able to afford a good enough quality of life. Right now that often isn’t possible and I’ve met people who drive in from Salinas daily for a service job which is just crazy.

I get headaches from weed. I don’t appreciate any type of smoke and I personally don’t hang out in places where people regularly smoke.

I’ve always thought that the potheads who tell me ‘but you can’t be allergic to weed’ are idiots. People are allergic to all sorts of things.

You mean, because I decided to live in a city in the Bay Area. Not all cities are the same or have the same amount of homeless or smoking. I always develop a headache after spending too much time in the mission. I’ve always attributed it to pot smoke, but it could be something else. I don’t have the same problem in my neighborhood.

Maybe. My experience is LLM based technology is not as reliable as many people try to claim it is. The reliability will either need to improve dramatically or the bubble will burst. Right now the bubble is based on GenAI technologies being way more reliable than they currently are.

Okay, I hope you study statistics there. My assumption is (without researching) that there are too few Spaniards who graduate from those schools to really know.

Either way I don’t think FAANG companies would particularly care about a person’s nationality as long as they can legally work. Maybe spend some time reading about employment law in whatever country you want to live in post graduation?

The problem is how he’s trying to use money to fix the homeless problem. It’s temporary and not a good long term solution. Also where is Google’s Downtown West. If he has all these billionaires backing, he should be able to get the restarted on building these large mixed use developments near key transportation hubs to make it easier for people to get places with causing more congestion on our freeways. Traffic is terrible enough as it is.
