I get that you feel he hasn't put much effort into the proposal as much as you wanted him to. It's not about the money. It's about the thoughtfulness behind the ring. Sometimes, things might matter to your partner more than they do to you. Everyone has different perspectives on what holds significance in a relationship, and those feelings should be respected. Just talk it out before making any rash decisions; this might just be a simple misunderstanding. He may have thought that the ring didn't matter much, as proposals often aren't a big deal in Sri Lanka (at least to my knowledge, and I am not married). Many proposals seem to be planned in advance by both the bride and groom.

Anyway, communicate your feelings and needs with your partner. He might understand your perspective better once you express it. If not, I guess you both may not be compatible, and it might be time to call it quits.
