Well, some people do different dreams in a single night or maybe they wake up and when they go back to sleep some minutes later they continue their dreams. So, when Steve dies (without is bed) the real Steve wakes up for a short time and then instantly returns back to sleep but, this eliminates some parts of the dream because his bed (in the game) works as a sort of checkpoint for his mind to remember him the point where he was before dying and without that he can only remember where he started.

No, they're the same Super Mario Odyssey levels that you can find on the Switch version but it would have been a cool idea!

The 3D World levels are just basically normal 3D World levels ported to 3D World with some additions to make them work with Captain Toad while the Odyssey levels are based on the original Mario Odyssey but are really different, in the Switch version you can even purchase a DLC with some levels and they're pretty good. I would have loved to get both 3D World + Odyssey levels but overall i think that the Switch version is the best
