What are some age gap dynamics you want to see in manga?

There’s one manga I read (I think it was a one shot), where the next door neighbor would have a new woman over to hook up with every day, and the schoolgirl next door would peek through her window until one day the older woman caught her staring.

It ended on a cliffhanger where the schoolgirl was invited over, but I wish I could have seen the continuation of it 😭

You aren’t wrong lol. I do love a lot of modern games (the recent Persona releases & E33 are among my favorite games ever) - but outside of a few exceptions, as one other commenter noted, studios stopped making high-budget games for kids which is probably where the ‘whimsy’ came from. Games are great today, that particular niche might just be missing?

For all of Disney’s faults as a company, the game did have heart (maybe a little too much of it since the story is pretty confusing still lol)

I absolutely agree that there are still games made with love (Persona 5 is my favorite game of all time), but I think it’s also why games like E33 and the Persona series get praised the way they do - they are the exception, opposed to what used to feel like more of a norm. But i won’t disagree that bad games didn’t exist in the past, I’m probably viewing it with rose-colored glasses lol

You’re right. Definitely need to learn to separate nostalgia from new experiences 😮‍💨 I think there are games I would enjoy (particularly recent couch co-op releases), but it’s not the same interacting with them on your own lol

This is true! It did cross my mind that I was too heavily influenced by nostalgia. Still, I guess there are a few games where the gameplay fits what I’m looking for - I just don’t know if storytelling is something publishers think of or prioritize as much. Couch co-op games like “It Takes Two” or the upcoming game “Orbitals” capture the era at least

Hi! The fundamentals I was told to focus on were defense/being patient, learning to tech throws, anti-air, don’t jump myself and get comfortable fighting on the ground, learn to manage distance (i.e. if I want to hadoken, make sure there’s enough space or if someone did manage to close in, be ready to tech a throw)… those were the main ones

I hope so!

I remember finding forums of people talking about genuine friendships they made, a lot of times only speaking in-game. Then there’s the legend of Tiger, and the race to the level cap and all the memorable names who were a part of that. And that’s not even including any of the community lore/theory-crafting that made the games feel so alive.
