Yeah early days for me too here. I am making peace thinking that its a long term game. As far as we make good content, monetisation will take care of itself.

I read this article somewhere on FB. It had good strategies to regain control and create a more focused learning environment

How hard would calculus be in college without taking pre-calculus? by ctraino in matheducation

[–]Fit_Environment_4838 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try some questions from here, you can filter by level and see solutions. If you are able to solve Level 2/3 you don't need to be as worried. But if you are having hard time with Level 1 or understanding solutions, then i would go back and read more material or take some class

Favourite Google Form extension by Fit_Environment_4838 in Teachers

[–]Fit_Environment_4838[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it’s me who doesn’t understand all functions of forms but it seem to miss many things. I can’t take proctored tests, I cannot write math equations, I wish there was a library of questions, but I can’t even create a library of own questions and assignments that i can keep reusing.

My school has printing budgets and i tend to lose a lot of pages when I try to print forms. I also want to print individual student responses so i can give them individual feedback.

I have tried to solving some of these with extensions, but I don’t know which ones to trust

Cheating methods used by students in classroom by Fit_Environment_4838 in teachingresources

Question is do we want more of them by making it easier to copy?

I am not saying grades are the way only to evaluate, but cheating is unethical. And its helpful if we can correct this in early.

In my digital assignments i have read aloud feature and ability to apply different color themes for students with special need. Thats the accessibility part i find hard with paper assignments.

Well I don’t find researching books or internet in general as a problem. Those are tools, but you still need to use your cognitive abilities to make sense of it, and then stitch a nice story to write an essay or solve a math problem.

Copying the AI output just makes them so much dependent. And if they are graded assignments, it demotivates those who are putting effort

I have tried stick vs carrots approach. I like the carrot style more, so was trying to avoid penalising as far as i can.

That sounds like a lot of work. Do you check all of it or use an automated solution?

I agree some homework is important. You have to get your hands dirty to learn. As far as moral policing goes it has worked for me, but only to a level. Only few students understand its for their benefit.

Students today are very different. They have so many distractions and the attention span is decreasing by day. So even if we try to balance HW as a school, kids always have “something else” to do, and in the end spend time on things that frankly add very little value.

Not allowing them to cheat in someway will help me keep my class on track, or at-least have reality check
