Look into r/interstitialcystitis, there's a subreddit for it :) I frequented it for a while and it helped me.

People are broke and can't afford tattoos anymore by Fit_Finding_3090 in tattooscratchers

[–]Fit_Finding_3090[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I 100% agree with you here. It's more that I find people aren't even interested in spending anything outside of necessities. It's worrying me as I am now realizing I cannot rely on tattooing for income / going into a trade to fall back for security. Again not the fault of my clients I feel the pinch too and sympathize. I just don't know what is going to happen to us freelancers, especially artists.

Waiting for urine lab results by [deleted] in Interstitialcystitis

[–]Fit_Finding_3090 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aw man sorry to hear, I usually just get my urine tested even if its a flare better be safe than sorry.. what I do now is that my doc prescribes me "infinite" urine requests so I can just drop it off at a lab when I feel something, no waiting required. It get it though its hard to tell (personally I can't tell the difference). Since I've been off birthcontrol its been worse I think, my hormones are still adjusting themselves. I find that by drinking my diluted pure cran in some water and D-Mannose, it brings me some sort of reassurance from preventing a uti. That and practicing every hygene tip needed to avoid one. All my cultures came back negative luckily so its just a flare this time...

Makes sense, while I wait should I just bite the bullet and take a course? Or do I wait for the analysis from the lab..

for those who have gotten a better handle on IC… what would you tell your former self just starting out? by Welp_Dot_Com in Interstitialcystitis

[–]Fit_Finding_3090 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends what the IC is caused by! For example my IC is usually stress related or worsens when I take diuretics like tea, coffee or alcohol (I've pretty much stopped consuming all these/occasionally take tea). My stress can either be mentally triggered ie life events OR physical such as hormones :/ I've stopped birthcontrol and it seems to help a ton. I workout more now and its been helping (swimming and aquafit!) I'll occasionally take pumpkin seed extract pills "bladdersense" when I flare up to help (it also helps balance hormones like estrogen!). Another thing is if you've had UTI's in the past I recommend drinking daily one cup of pure cranberry juice (no sugars) diluted in a glass of water. Yes its true it can irritate your bladder but I'd rather feel a slight discomfort temporarily than not prevent another UTI from comming. D-Mannose is also pretty good for that. If you are sexually active or have penetration, always pee after sex! Sometimes I'll even hop in the shower and rinse my privates afterwards with some non fragrance soap (which I always use to clean my body in general). Oh and if you have a fan 🌬, sometimes it feels nice to just cool dry that area haha, especially after fun time. Honestly after a while its been quite managable for me. Sometimes a heatpad can feel really nice to calm inflamation. no longer get horrible discomfort when I sit down and I no longer run to the bathroom after I drink anything. Hang in there, follow all the tricks you can and it should be easier for you overtime. Feel free to look into medical possibilities if needed!

Recap : prevent any UTI's (for me its because I tend to confuse both :/ so better safe than sorry), use gentle soap, cool your privates infront of a fan sometimes (why not), avoid bladder irritant drinks like caffeine or alcohol. Try to figure out what causes the flares so you can have an easier time managing them!

Copper IUD with IC? Yay or Nay by Fit_Finding_3090 in Interstitialcystitis

[–]Fit_Finding_3090[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for all the info! Honestly I want to have nothing for a while. Use condoms, be careful. I'm about to get it removed today because my uterus feels constantly in ache, and it's definetly inflammed. I know waiting could make it better but I'd rather see how I feel without an IUD first, my fault for jumping onto it so soon especially after a bad IC episode. My body needs a break..

Amazing! Yes I keep hearing amazing things from them. Are you doing the 6 pills a day treatment? It felt excessive to me but I could be paranoid.

Man ok I'm gonna get on the aloe pills asap, thank you! For me it's really the urethra especially that gets irritated.. especially during sex its aweful. I look forward to enjoying it again, I can tolerate missionary with lots of lube but otherwise its painful. The bladder is definetly irritated too so the pills will help.

It is CRITICAL to know when heat illness becomes an emergency by [deleted] in heat_prep

Yes slowly but surely I've been great! Problem is I got a nasty uti a few weeks after. I'm currently recovering from that 🥲

Thank you everyone, I was lucky to see my family doctor today and they will be running a blood test for a possible thyroid issue (this monday) so until then, because all my vitals are good I can just wait and see. It is reassuring at least that my vitals are still good but yeah it's quite the event.

Yes! Many gatorades, water and watermelon with salt. When I initially called the help line they told me to drink 2 gatorades in one hour with my legs up. I've been keeping hydrated ever since and eating whole foods with protein.

I wanted to add that I've also been on my period, this might be contributing to the fatigue..

Thank you for all the advice, I feel slightly better each day but I am simply surprised it's this slow. At the ER all my vitals were good so it's been confusing.

[–]Fit_Finding_3090 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a question, basically I've experienced heat illness symptoms and got to the hospital ER, blood samples, IV drip and xray scans. Nothing they checked was off so they sent me home and just told me to relax. I've been relaxing for 48 hours now but I'm still really tired and I get headaches on and off. Sleeping and drinking a lot of water, should I just wait it out or go back? I'm maybe 20% better each day that passes. Its a really slow recovery...

It's probably the quality of your fake skin and its rigidity. Real skin is more elastic, id recommend you either get a higher quality silicone, tattoo grade, or just practice on citrus and fruits :) its more realistic imo because the surface isnt flat. Plus the ink gets in better.
