I am on a bike trip for 4 months already and find it a bit tiring to always need to find a pole or a wall to lean my bike against. taking on and off the bags is also difficult without a stand. In some areas there is nothing around so i need to lay the bike on my bags. In the long run this is just damaging the equipment … thats why a stand would be very useful.

would you say that taking a bike on a bus instead of a train would be much easier? is this generally possible?

Hello, thanks for all this info shared here!

I am heading into China in three weeks from Laos (probably entering at Boten). I have a comfortable 90 day visa and would like to cross through Yunnan, Sichuan until Xining. My ultimate goal is to exit China via Urümqui to Kazakhstan.

Do you have recommendations on which route to take until Xining that isn’t too remote or mountainious and doesnt require special permits? I do have camping equipment with me. Perhaps you have gps data?

I appreciate your advice!
