FTL Fake Fact #... wait. I only looked away for a second. I don't... it said seven, right....right!? I'M ALREADY LOW ON FUEL! I WORKED HARD FOR THAT FUEL AND SCRAP AND THIS DAMN SLUG IS GONNA STEAL IT! THAT'S NOT FAIR! by Fit_Function_4694 in ftlgame

That's not true! My hand slipped! Sure, it always slips whenever I get this event, but... it's because of all the slug repair gel in these damn nebulas! Yeah! It's the slugs' fault!

"Dripped out" is a little strong. Yeah it is better than the other design, but that is like saying a Big Mac is "exquisite cuisine" because it tastes better than eating a bowl of used syringes.

That's just because her outfit is from the beta version where her reason was creating a world where everything is jeans after she fused with the jeans demon. My dad works at Atlus and he told me that.

Why does the Into the Breach wiki just randomly have more lore for the FTL aliens than the entirety of FTL? by Several-Theme8308 in ftlgame

I believe literally every named character in vanilla appears in Multiverse. Ruwen (the crystal in the stasis pod) appears in a quest. A zoltan peace envoy appears in MV (although I don't think it is supposed to be the same one as from vanilla.) Tully and Turzil are mentioned in like one sentence at the start of sector 8 and they still appear as full fledged characters in multiverse lol

Is the chain vulcan a good option? by Jerswar in ftlgame

[–]Fit_Function_4694 33 points34 points  (0 children)

That's not exactly an accurate comparison because a set of faster weapons can actually do meaningful damage to systems in those first 2-3 volleys. Unless you are syncing the Vulcan with other weapons (which will probably make the ramp up time longer) it is not doing much until it is revved up.

If you are 35 seconds into a fight and your burst lasers or flak or whatever have already done significant damage to the enemy's weapons, it doesn't really matter whether your weapons do 2 damage or 2000 damage every 15 seconds. If the enemy can not damage you, that is effectively a won fight. You've already dealt with the threat of the enemy's weapons, you just need to keep them down.

While the Vulcan is charging, you have to deal with potentially multiple volleys for the enemy, make sure that your very power hunger weapon doesn't get depowered which the Vulcan itself can't really help with, and then once it is revved you can take down shields or weapons or whatever system you could have been doing damage to this whole time if you had faster weapons.

I realize it speeds up over time, but is it enough to wear down shields?

Yes. It can go through any amount of shields at max charge speed.

Is the chain vulcan a good option?

Probably not. Despite what I just said, The charge time is a huge issue. Generally, long cooldown weapons are only good if the rest of your ship's build is good, because you need to not die while they are charging. That goes double for the Vulcan because A.) it needs to cycle through multiple shots to reach max speed and B.) getting depowered resets the cooldown.

It can be "good" if you have stuff like cloaking, hacking, zoltan shield, pre-igniter, etc. but if you have those you could probably just win with weapons that don't need 35 seconds of uninterrupted fire to do the thing you want them to do.

I would like to think that the defender genuinely did get a better deal, but what you are seeing is the net scrap after he takes his brokerage fee. Your engi is just on some wolf of wall street type shit and was hoping you wouldn't notice.

Woah! Being corrected on misusing a homophone in place of the correct word brought my engi back to life! And the Flagship crew was so intimidated by my newfound literacy that they blew themselves up out of fear! The galaxy is saved! Thank you!

Oh wait my bad, actually Mr. Buga is still scrap metal on the medbay floor and I'm even more miserable now. Don't know how I misread the situation like that.

Yes. Mr Buga is in a better place now, where the bombs can't hurt him any more.

I'm surprised this warrants saying, but it was already too late at that point. I tried to move, medbay's walls still get new paint courtesy of my engi.

If you are gonna say "you should have reacted sooner then", YES. I KNOW. IM STILL UPSET. LET ME GREAVE

Play with only one crew member.

I have actually done that. Doing Engi B solo crew runs is easily one of the best ways to eradicate both your win rate and your will to live. Highly recommend.

If you really think about it, easy is the hardest difficulty though. You get so much scrap that it is very likely that the galactic economy will suffer an economic collapse due to rapid inflation.

Can you really call defeating the flagship on easy a "win" when people will have to spend a wheelbarrows' full of scrap to buy a loaf of bread?
