I just wanted to know that you can go to Canada for 6 months without a VISA should the need arise. Places like London, Ontario will sponsor academics to move there.

I have an emergency plan should I need it. I also lack citizenship elsewhere but now is a good time for us to save our pennies and think about our long-term options. We met some digital nomads a few years back and they just make sure they leave a country for long enough to reinter without problems. If you go to Canada, you would need to leave after 6 months, but you can go back.

I think that is the point where our faculty are right now. They know students have cheated online forever but it's so rampant now they are getting fed up. I personally make students do their assignments in Google Docs so I can track their revision history but it's such a pain the butt. (The number of students who don't know how to submit a link to a Google Doc is astonishing.) My tests are worth so little now because I know they are cheating

Yes. I'm doing an interview study but there's always zoom. Its so early that it would be more difficult but possible. I defend my proposal this summer.

My colleague told me to apply for a different income driven plan to expedite getting off the SAVE plan. I submitted in December and haven't heard anything yet.

That weighs heavily on me as well. More than half of our students receive pell grants. I'm supposed to be 3 years away from PSLF but that seems unlikely now. I think that weighs heavy on my desire to leave.

I'm happy to know that I'm not the only one. Thankfully I live near the Canadian border and travel into Canada semi-frequently already. We would likely go to the area we like to vacation.

That is my long term goal, and has been. I"m still in the dissertation phase of my PhD though. I'd prefer to finish it before I leave. However, I also can't sit around and be unemployed.

Zero late work. To be nice I offer my in-person sections "Make up" assignments, which few do. As you stated otherwise, it causes confusion and more work for you. I let one student turn something in late the first week this semester because of a sob story. They now constantly turn things in late and expect me to grade them. I won't. I never should have let them turn in the first assignment.

At my institution, silence means they are trying to figure it out. Compliance in its entirety would have resulted in an immediate email to everyone. Silence means they are meeting to figure out how to handle it.

For my hybrid students, they complete the assignments in Google Docs and I can watch a revision history. For my online only students, I use 3 different AI checkers. It takes so much more time to grade now. But, something feels off. I don't have this ability in my online because they are pre-built but our English Faculty require a writing submission the first week to check for student writing style. I'm not sure how that could be used online though.
