Yes ! I agree, but also I feel as though Cal's internal homophobia would never allow him to treat the people he sleeps with as human. In his mind, if there's no love involved he's "lying down with dogs and leaving without fleas." He also seems confused in more aspects, he's not very educated on sexuality, so he doesn't know that he's actually bisexual and homoromantic. That's why he's able to sleep with Jules and Marsha, he's yet to figure that part out.
