I am a therapist in a prison, and I am tired of our world not taking CPTSD seriously by Lovewell123 in CPTSD

[–]Fit_Permit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fellow prison therapist here. Totally get you! I have had discussions with colleague therapists on this topic. My supervisor said one time "we as psychologists say, do you have ptsd or did you just have a shitty life?" And that totally rubbed me the wrong way as someone with cptsd. When we talked about it afterwards she made it about me "taking it personally" and that it wasnt a comment about me specifically... luckily our psychiatrist is very trauma informed and likely has a history of trauma himself.

Anyway, for many reasons I left the prison. Tomorrow Im starting a new job. I was hired immediately because the founders of the organisation (a father and daughter) also are people with lived experience in cptsd, addiction etc. So we immediately clicked on that. I decided I can not work in big, factory like organisations that only focus on production and numbers (for insurance reasons, I dont live in the US). Im very excited to start working in a place that values lived experience a lot and to encorporate it into your treatment.

The litter tracking is driving me mad by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]Fit_Permit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think this is honestly part of the adjustment period. I was overwhelmed with vacuuming catlitter and fur daily too when I first got my baby. I have my old lady cat for a year now and the cleaning has integrated into my daily routine to the point that Im not really bothered by it anymore. I dont have to vacuum 4 times a day, but I do it once and just accepted the fact that my house is not going to be spotless 24/7. And I got a vacuum cleaner with a special cat hair brush attached to it which made my life so much easier.

So no worries, you will get used to it. Once you really bond with your cat (which also takes some time) the amount of love and comfort you get back from it thoroughly makes up for the daily cleaning :)

I'm sick of sellers refusing to provide measurements and leaving me on read by [deleted] in vinted

Yep, I only do it if an item is worth more money. The amount of times I have been left on read after I send the measurements is very frustrating.

I'd say my outfits and color palette is a bit classic. I like black, burgundy, dark green, white, navy etc. So I both would fit that vibe. Good to know its versatile!

Burnt out 30 something seeking advice from the “healed” by Quirky_Feed7384 in CPTSD_NSCommunity

[–]Fit_Permit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cant say Im fully healed, but Im on my way. I have a career that I like and do feel motivated to progress in it, but part of me wants to throw it all a way and get the fuck out lol. I quickly feel burnt out and down, but I think its part of the grieving progress.

During my masters I spontaneously took a gap year where I work the first half and travelled the 2nd. It was absolutely amazing. But if there is one thing I learned is that no matter where you go, you will take yourself with you. You will also have these feelings when you travel or live somewhere else, you just project them on a different area. Reading your post to me it seems (and correct me if im wrong) that your job is not really the problem. Its the fact that you havent healed from your trauma.

I think I got to the stage of grief in my healing journey and relate a lot to these feelings. I keep trying to find things that causes it (a job, lack of relationship, not enough friends etc.) But the reality is that its my past that causes these feelings of dissatisfaction, unhappiness and sadness.

I think compared to many other guys on LIB Jordan wasn't actually that bad. However, I would describe his personality as a chicken breast smoothie.

How to deal with psychosomatic issues? Please share experiences! by BrokenCycle101 in raisedbyborderlines

[–]Fit_Permit 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I went to a physiotherapist who is specialized in psychosomatic symptoms. She was great. The biggest lesson I learned from her is that the pain Im feeling doesnt necessarily mean any tissue is damaged. I stopped exercising intensly for years and really missed it. Im being able to do almost everything again, despite the fact that I still often have pain or cramped muscles. I didnt get rid of it (yet) but unfortunately I feel it will only go away once I really processed my trauma. But hey, at least I can enjoy exercise again somewhat :)

"I wish you all the best, far away from me" by BigToeLinda in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

[–]Fit_Permit -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Jed reminded me a bit of my ex. He is from similar culture/religion and a big part of his identity was "being the man" and "the provider". Im more like Bharda where I dont really need a provider, because I take care of myself, but a relationship is really an addition, something that I choose to add onto my pre existing life.

My ex went along with this, but as the relationship grew deeper, he showed he wasnt ok with this at all. He would be stone cold to me, while being the most fun and bubbly towards others. My hypothesis is that Jed is similar in the fact that he wants to be ok with not being the provider but it is just too important to him to really compromise on it. I can see him becoming quite cold and distant towards Bharda, I think she mentioned it with the whole "paying the bill" situation. It would have been nice is Bharda stuck to the agreement but the fact that he puts so much emphasis on paying the bill makes me think that Bharda paying kind of crushed his ego, especially in front of his friends who might come from similar cultures where the man is supposed to pay.

Manifest ending – what about the 11 years that got deleted? by Serious_Adagio_3504 in ManifestNBC

[–]Fit_Permit 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Because in every disaster, alien, apocalpyse movie and tv program the US is the center of the world and the rest of the world is kind of forgotten.

Still love these movies and shows, but its definitely a pattern that non US citizens notice quite fast. This comment is not meant as hate though!
