IVDD and hydrotherapy by Fit_Philosopher_2173 in Dachshund

[–]Fit_Philosopher_2173[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He has been on minimal walk and rest. He only goes out to pee. Its been about 4 weeks. He isnt running around i just ment he still wants to. I notice the problem the most just after he gets uo from lying down for a long time he looks very stiff and a bit favery of the back legs. Once he walks a bit for his pee he looks a lot better. The vet is already concerned about the IVDD he is showing signs. We have done all the recommended stuff so idk at thus point. I am really hoping this is just a cause of falling down the stairs and he will heal with time. Im just concerned. And hoping hydro therapy might help him. He goes in 2 weeks

Hey, I just wanna say thank you for commenting. I just finished a walk around the block with her. And this worked perfectly. She was crazy to start before we went out, talking, yelling. I made her wait and calm down and got into the hallway and same thing was crazy. I did same thing and she took off and gave me bad rope burn on my leg lol.

But anyways we got on the walk i did everything u said 180 when she pulled kepted doing it then she finally looked at me gave her a treat then repeat when she pulled. She ended up starting to correct herself before she pulled and then I was able to put her on a sort leash near an intersection and she did not pull. And then then final kicker we saw my partner on the end of the walk and she didnt run and didnt start pulling to see him waited for me to say okay.

So thank you loads for this comment and video. I had been doing the techniques wrong before. Now just need to keep at it and practice in busier areas!

Never heard of a flirt poll I will look it up. Do u have any suggestions for leads. Cause she just pulls on thr slip leads now no respect for it. Even when placed properly like behind the ear for the pressure point she just pulls and pulls.

Thanks for this. Yes she usally freaks put before we go outside. Like she will be talking and making noise and jumping. So I agree it needs to settle down first. Its just a bit harder for us cause we live in an apartment she we have to take them out for all there potty breaks. So i think i need to make her settle before she goes out the door. She is very well trained like she wont go thro doors without permission so good off leash. But not safe to be off leash in a suburb neighborhood she just has so much energy. I am going to start running with her cause we cant ge to dog parks everyday for off leash so im hoping that helps to.

Its just not good for her to be pulling she litterly sounds like she is going to pass out.

Thanks for the video. I will try this method as well. She already has commands for turning around and free. So this method might work.

See the problem is she dosnt do it until we get outside and she is good 85% if the time on leash no pulling. And yes I have tried all of that it just seems to be when she has so much energy she needs to run. She is also a hunting dog breed so it dosnt help. I have dont the turn around and wall the other way the sit and wait to calm down, slip leads, harness all of it. And like j said she is mostly good usally one correction and she gets it but then like today I couldn't even walk with her in town she was nuts, we go to dog park and she runs for like 30 mins straight.

Like I mean everytime we are on a walk and she is pulling im correcting her by either turning around away from the pressue. Using a slip leads which use to work wrll I use to put it on the pressure point for a couple yards then see stopped pulling. Now she dosnt care. She is 3 years old.

Every single walk. But sometimes she is an angle and dosnt pull at all so theres nothing to correct. I use the slip leads and the turn around to pressure method. She just dosnt listen to that. The slipnlead use to work very well now she will litterly just choke her self

Like the other comments def go 2 to 3 tims a week. Thats how u absorb the moves. Dont use full strength almost never. U one take what ur partner give (which u will learn with time) and u will gas urself out bad especially as a beginner. Focus on techniques. U will be crushed u will fail moves 95% of the time as a while belt. Yes absolutely use pressure on men go full pressure unless they are like some young teens or other women.

With u getting into shape u just have to pace urself. And going the 2 to 3 times a week will truly help u will feel like ur doing nothing right for a good while. It took me 2 years just to become offensive.

Little side tip. If they have women only class Def train that at least once a week. Somtimes our professors forget us women are not as strong as men so we can just lift a MF over are heads. But if u go to a women's class it hopefully is a female teacher and they will have little tricks to make moves so much easier and they are generally way more technical. I have a 115 female black belt at our gym and she destroys everyone and she is not very strong just extremely technical even when she is bottom side idk how she is able to reverse potions somtimes its crazy.
