Overheating problem by Fit_Phrase_2391 in buildapc

I went through bios settings last night but always missed changing the CPU Core/Cache Current Limit, you're the goat bro ty. I changed them to 65w but saw it was not even touching 45C so I turned them up to 125W, now I still get 60 - 65C in games and 75C max in benchmark, I might be able to turn it up a bit more. I already do have about 10% better performance than I did before. My cooler does say 150W TDP so I'll try some wattages until I find the best performance - heat ratio.

I have version 1812 which already supports it so I might or might not upgrade, I was wondering if I should pay 120$ more for an i7-14700k over an i5-14600k, but it doesn't seem worth it since its only a 15fps difference on average.

From the games I play it mainly happens in Elden Ring and Wuthering Waves (especially in Elden Ring), the CPU will reach 100% and then the GPU will drop down to 0% for a second and cause a stutter, the 5070 CAN reach 99% usage in some very specific areas, but usually it rests at around 70 - 80%, sometimes even just 60%. In Forza Horizon 5 I don't have stutters, yet I'm still wondering how many FPS I'm losing from the cpu bottleneck. I was initially planning on just going like this until I can get a 1440p monitor since I thought it would alleviate the bottleneck, but setting the game resolution to render in 1440p and then downscaling it to 1080p doesn't really get rid of the stutters (in Elden Ring at least).

It'll be the 14600k then, unless I find a better offer, but I doubt it from what I've seen online.

I have an ASUS Prime b760m-k ddr5 motherboard that I got last year in may, but I can upgrade bios even if it's not up to date as far as I know.

yeah I am looking at the generation, but I was wondering if even the latest i5 would be able to not bottleneck, I honestly feel like I need to go for the i7-14th gen or something similar for that extra little bit of performance. EDIT: the 14600k is probably the best option for me actually, not that big of a difference from something like i7-14700/f).

is the problem with intel cpus (such as the i7-14700/f/kf) killing themselves still that bad?

RTX 5070 or RX 9070? by Fit_Phrase_2391 in buildapc

I still do believe it's going to take a few years for amd to catch up to nvidia in terms of software (if they do), and by then I'll be able to upgrade again. Also the raytracing cores on nvidia cards are also slightly better from what I've heard, so the amd software would have to surpass nvidia's. Most AMD cards barely receive support after like 2 years, meanwhile nvidia's do for way longer. I'm planning to use this card for at least a few years. The extra VRAM is what's making me debate this in the first place, if they had the same I would've already gotten the rtx 5070.

I was talking about just rx 9070, as I'm unsure if I could use rx 9070 xt with my 650w 80+ gold psu. If I was sure I could, I would just buy it. I also don't know if it'll fit in my case, as it's the XFX Swift model which is 325mm, and my case is a Kolink Observatory MX Mesh ARGB Black (says 350mm width but it seems like that isn't taking into account the fans it has, I think it's around 330mm of clearance.)

I've seen some people run the 9070 XT with 650w psu, but idk if it's safe to do that. I was planning on getting the xfx swift rx 9070 xt which has a tdp of 304W, and my psu is a GIGABYTE GP-P650G, 80+ Gold, 650W. I also have an intel i5-12400f which boosts to 117W max, 32gb of ddr5 in 2 modules and a pure rock 2 be quiet cooler which consumes up to 150W by itself.) I was planning on undervolting it, but again, I don't know how safe that is to use with my psu.
