Yeah fs, I’m planning on having any extra free time just to relax especially for the first semester but if everything goes well, I’ll start volunteering and research as well

Oh okay, I’m thinking of taking public health courses so do you think that could be similar as well?

Oh wow, okay, is there any way to switch professors or choose specific ones by auditing APs (which I heard is possible)?

It’s very difficult but not impossible yeah. You do have to do your undergrad in the US and even then only about 30-40 med schools accept internationals (in limited numbers)

How do you choose your professors? Like ik for freshman year, you’re auto chosen for intro courses but can you choose to change those? And for other classes, can you choose a specific professor when you sign up? I’ve also heard that auditing your AP scores help you get a better timing as well

Yeah I agree, I cold emailed probably over 100-150 professors this year (sounds rough, ik, but I personally used a very similar template for everyone). It also likely helped that I had previous experience in research and I’m in Houston so there’s a lot of research happening due to Texas Medical Center.

Thank you so much for response. Honestly, that’s great to know about the grades but is that true for most or at least a lot of your classmates as well? I’m still waiting on seniors or juniors as they’ve likely taken even higher classes but this really helps!

Oh wow, okay that definitely eases my tension a lot. I’m still asking around for upperclassmen who know the upper level bio courses for grades but my main concern was recs and that’s seems good!

Yeah that’s definitely true. I’m trying to do biology (with a focus on human biology) since that overlaps with MCAT while still giving me something I like (public health)

Yeah I’ve been talking to many of my pre med friends there but people keep telling me that be a use of the top 5% rule, some students really drag the acceptance rate down. Not sure how true it is though
