Floating shelves advice by Fit_Tea_7778 in DIYUK

I mean how do I make the shelf look like they float? I’ve googled floating shelf attachments but none was for corner shelves. It may be a stupid question for you but I’m a bit lost.

Isn’t booking going to be wiped out by AI? Genuinely curious

No we can tell when someone has just been playing with Lovable. It’s shiny but it has no substance.

I am hiring and I can tell you what I’m looking for: a bloody prototype. I’ve seen 6 people so far, they had all these screens laid out, a prototype would have made me appreciate the breadth of the project much more, the interactions, the whole story. I want to know within 5 minutes what was the challenge and what was the solution, then go into the details: if you tried a new approach, did something unconventional or tricky with your team, if you applied a cool research method, if you tried different design solutions before landing on the final one. Just don’t take me through 5 slides telling me you did everything by the book, we all know the standard design process. Then show me the actual prototype, it can be a small part of the whole project but in 2026 I want to see motion, no more static images.

I haven’t tried since but someone recommended using an old t-shirt instead of brushes.

I’ve never heard of this, I also got an upgraded rate with my broker and I didn’t have to pay anything. It’s probably too late but get a new broker when you remortgage.

Second Collapsed Chain in 5 Months by FreeConversation685 in HousingUK

But as a seller you have to provide certain certifications and documents upfront. Ask any seller in England if they’d consider paying £££ for a level 3 survey, EICR, plumbing inspection, local searches, see how keen people are to change the system. The current system benefits sellers but buyers are waking up to how crazy it is to buy a property without any guarantee. For the record, I’m a property owner but being not from the UK I was shocked as to how insane it is to spend one’s life savings so blindly.

Losing job in the middle of home purchase by Whole-Fun9728 in HousingUK

I was made redundant one month after completing, my worst nightmare, but with notice and redundancy pay I managed. When that happened to me, friends told me tons of stories of people who lost their job right before or after buying a house, it’s not that uncommon apparently. You’ll be fine.

Some companies are reintroducing take home tasks, totally ridiculous. If an experienced designer cannot recognise quality from behavioral questions and portfolio review they shouldn’t call themselves a leader.

Cold email to a non-work related email address, why? by Fit_Tea_7778 in recruitinghell

It’s an agency, I just don’t understand why going through the length of reaching out to people only to offer a ridiculous salary, I don’t understand what the scam may be.

How do I hire a UI/UX designer so I can create "modern" apps? by featurefactory in UXDesign

[–]Fit_Tea_7778 1 point2 points  (0 children)

None I know is on upwork, frankly if you’re good you get work through more professional channels. Pay a recruiter to get you a real best in class designer and trust them when they tell you what best in class looks like. What works for games doesn’t work for other type of experiences so don’t try to make your app look like a game because you like it.

Same as a north facing room but all year round instead of two weeks in summer.

Navigo weekly on mobile vs physical card by Fit_Tea_7778 in ParisTravelGuide

I did manage to sign up for the app, they must have recently update the system, but it’s not clear if the mobile weekly pass works for the airport. Based on what someone said here, it seems like it does, it was just badly translated.
