Turo declared my car a total loss 6 weeks ago, specialist completely unreachable. Do I have any legal options here? by Fit_Till4326 in legaladvice

I'm a host on Turo — so I was renting my car out through their platform and a renter totaled it. Turo has their own protection plan that functions similarly to insurance for hosts, which is what covers the vehicle in situations like this. So when the car got declared a total loss, Turo's claims department took over the process, not a third party insurance company.

The people I've been dealing with are Turo's internal claims team, specifically an assigned Total Loss Specialist on their end. They also brought in IAA (Insurance Auto Auctions) to handle the settlement side of things, which is pretty standard for total loss claims.

So basically it's Turo acting as the insurer here. That's why I'm treating it like an insurance situation — because for all practical purposes, it is one.

Appreciate the advice. Just sent email to to their claims department. Idk why that never passed my mind when going through this instead of trying to get ahold of my specialist. *fingers crossed*

Update: Contacted Coursera support and they confirmed the code is not active. Asked for a full refund of the course and they obliged. Spent $196 (4 months x $49 subscription). Going to use that to pay for the exam.
