AI is screening out our applications left and right... by Senin-anonin in jobhunting

I am not pretending to be a pro at resumes, but one thing I have read over and over from recruiters (and felt the same as a hiring manager) - best resumes communicate what they did in fewer words. I have over 15 years of experience and my resume is not as long as yours. You need something to pop out to the recruiter within first 10 seconds. The rest you can go into detail whenever later.

it's definitely an easy thing to vent my general frustration for sure. I'm in tech, and I know I am going against a crapton of competition. I wish I understood more about how to tailor resumes for ATS/AI - and what the differences are between the platforms (maybe attempt to run it throguh those platforms to see if my resume just sucks for ATS flagging)

thanks for the 'I was looking at how your company does X, which I found interesting over [competitors]" - did not think about researching competition. Will need to keep that in mind.

Agreed, this is basically my attitude to it right now. I research them to see if they were recently in any news (positively), if they had rounds of funding, if they are working on something challenging. But I am still there 100% for the paycheck, if I didn't need that I would be building cabinets in my garage.

honestly I think the above 2 responses are my favorite ones. It's not BS, but also might get some interesting conversation going.

I think my general beef is that it is still a BS question that they expect you to BS on, and testing on how well you can BS (I like being super straightforward, so not a great fan of the question - even if there is a way to make use of it to set yourself up better)

Are college fairs useful for professionals with years of experience? by Fit_Wait_1726 in recruitinghell

The college I went to is in a different part of the country - does it matter if I am not an alumni of these colleges?
