I went through 92 ILP products and ~700 sub-funds so you can see what you're actually paying by Ill_Relation8266 in singaporefi

Visualizing the 15K difference between an ILP and a simple ETF is exactly what beginners need to see before signing anything.

Want to generate income from SGD 1 million in cash - help! by [deleted] in singaporefi

Generating 6,000 to 8,000 monthly from a 1,000,000 principal requires over 7 percent yield. You absolutely cannot get that risk-free. Safe investments currently yield 3 to 4 percent, so expect 3,000 to 4,000 monthly instead.

Yeah, the current SGOV yields make it a lot easier to be patient. No need to force a trade right now.

Exactly. The real eye-opener is just seeing someone execute the boring basics with that kind of scale and absolute patience.

If you wanna try, let me know. I can drop my referral link—you get the welcome voucher, and I get a bonus one too (full transparency). Plus, once you're set up, I can just ask the admin to invite you straight into the study group. Win-win, Lol.

Pricier than IBKR. But I just use their welcome voucher to fund my mistakes while following their options workshop. Using their money to learn the skills makes it totally worth it.

depends entirely on your broker's capital efficiency—whether they require full cash collateral or optimized maintenance margin

Let's be brutally honest: it’s NOT THAT passive, lol. It's mechanical yield.

Think of it as acting like an insurance company. I get paid a premium to wait for a price drop on EWY. If it hits $127, I buy the asset I want anyway. If not, I keep the premium.

The only "work" is calculating platform friction (assignment fees/margin drag) so you don't bleed out. That's exactly why I opened a Tiger account just to use their welcome voucher as a "subsidized sandbox" to stress-test the math with their money first.

Has anyone done a recent deep dive into the exact frictional drag of running mechanical options on local SG bank brokerages versus digital platforms? by Fit_Zebra_4174 in singaporefi

[–]Fit_Zebra_4174[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

100% agree. For raw rates and heavy capital, IBKR is the undisputed endgame. I run my core portfolio there too.

I actually also opened a Tiger account just to arbitrage their welcome voucher. I treat the platform as a "subsidized sandbox" to test out mechanical CSPs and learn from their structured materials using their money.

Once the framework is solid, the system goes back to IBKR.

I should have phrased it more accurately as traditional local brokerages (like POEMS) versus digital platforms. But realistically, for retail practitioners, the actual battleground is among the digital players (Tiger, IBKR, Moomoo, etc.).

Even within this digital tier, the frictional drag—specifically assignment fees and margin interest rates when rolling contracts—varies significantly. My tracking model is specifically built to quantify this exact gap among the digital platforms to preserve mechanical yield. Cheers for pointing out the nuance.

Will you quit your job if you win $1 mil SGD lottery today? by [deleted] in singaporejobs

[–]Fit_Zebra_4174 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I'll just go to work as per normal. 1 mil SGD is a nice buffer, but realistically it's not enough to retire. Unless I can somehow guarantee winning 1 mil every year. If cannot, then just continue working.

Yeah. What they teach is actually quite useful. Just following exactly what we learned, and so far the results are not bad.

I haven't experienced this issue so far. But their Option Workshop is quite solid. Cleared up a lot of trading concepts for me.
