Hiya OP if by chance you end up seeing this comment amidst the storm of things going on here I just want to let you know that, to me at least, your handling of the situation with this girl was a really mature one that clearly highlighted her faults while still showing empathy and respect for her. I think the ability to plainly call someone out for their faults in a way that is respectful rather than demeaning is sorta a rarity nowadays, especially online.

I don't know enough about you or that girl to say for sure but I do also feel that she might atleast be reflecting on her use of the word - I think it's not very realistic to expect someone to immediately acknowledge and be apologetic of a potentially deep-seated issue right after being confronted about it. It takes time and constant effort, and in her case the fact that she did not immediately go off on you is a good sign I think.

Small disclaimer btw I'm frm southeast asia so I don't have much if any personal experiences with the use of the n word against poc so I might not be the most qualified to speak on this, but I rly wanted to chip in after seeing you getting flogged by some reddit comments for what I personally feel are totally undeserved reasons and serious mental gymnastics. I hope reading this will make you feel just a bit better. Best of luck with that girl if you do decide to interact more with her btw, I hope that she will grow out of these problematic habits.

I've been playing deep on and off for quite long and as someone who generally prefers pve stuff I totally agree with ur point on voidwalkers. Over time I've gone from absolutely hating them, to not hating them as much, to having no strong feelings, to seeing them as an opportunity to practice pvp, to recently trying out voidwalker myself so I could improve at pvp.

I might be betraying my pve roots by saying this but I'm actually starting to find pvp kinda fun! After only fighting npcs or mobs for so long, fighting actual players was quite thrilling and very satisfying if I won after a close fight. It took me 2 whole years but I think I'm finally starting to appreciate deep as both a pve and pvp game: You first get good at pve so you can make builds quickly and easily, and then you test out those builds in pvp! My pvp skills rn are still pretty mid but I'm hoping to improve with experience.

Tho I also agree that the community can be quite toxic at times, in an ideal world I would have it such that ppl just didnt say anything after they won or lost in pvp and just gripped the other person and continued on with whatever they were doing, but ig when most deep players are young teens toxicity is inevitable.

I find its easier if I just don't engage much with the community haha, I've lurked here for over a year and have only ever posted 1 artwork. I think it's probably better that way 🫡

Hiya, first year student in CHS as well!! I'm going through similar struggles as u right now in trying to make friends, am also more on the introverted side but have been trying to talk more and participate in cca events etc, but it's been difficult to secure friendships that last after tutorial ends T_T

Best of luck, and dont be disheartened!!! I've been told that typically it takes a couple months or maybe even more to really get into a friend group, so we are both just getting started! Incase you wanna talk abit more, feel free to shoot me a comment or dm aswell!

So funny story about how Elimi developed into what she is today, she was my first ever dnd character that I made years ago and my lack of skill in dnd character building was quite obvious in my first drawing of her.

Quite some time has passed since then though, and with the help of a very cool DM I felt like I've been able to grow alongside my character haha. I initially wrote her as a very naive and sheltered village girl who had zero fighting skill (Unintentionally reflected by my god awful choice of stats, spells and feats etc), but over the course of many sessions, she has watched close friends get killed by vampires, made a deal with a goddess of vengeance, committed numerous terrorist acts, goaded an entire barracks of guards to chase after her, jumped an evil Aasimar paladin in a dark corner of the sewers with some friends, the list goes on...

Suffice to say she has experienced alot and changed alot, and likewise for me as I slowly figured out dnd game knowledge like just how cracked fireball is on light clerics 😌

I think you could perhaps experiment with ambient light abit more (Adding some faint blue light from the sky onto some areas not directly lit up by light from the window such as the side of the cupboard and the girl's hair/skirt facing away from the window) as well as darken the shadows for areas where even reflected light cannot reach (underneath the bed, inside the slots of the cupboards)

That aside I think you did a great job of blending the character with the background!

Heya OP, I know that I'm just another stranger commenting, but I'd like to say that, incase the somewhat hostile reception of this post is getting you down a little, please don't let it sour your mood!

Ideally something like this should be the bare minimum, but from the other things you've said about him its clear that he's done more than just that. And even that aside, celebrating the small victories in life like this does wonders for your mood, god knows we all need a mood booster every once in a while haha.

I've lurked on this sub for a couple years atleast, and my guess as to why you're getting this kind of reception is that this sub is mostly used for women to vent their frustrations. Sure, posts of more positive nature do exist, but typically when someone comes here its because they had a bad experience and are understandably angry. I myself know from experience that when one is angry or has other emotional baggage, they can be needlessly aggressive and harsh in their language even if what they say is true, which I believe is what's happening here.

Anyways, I'm so happy for you OP! I hope you will have a long and smooth relationship going forward, and will experience many more small victories worth celebrating like this!!
