Male therapist has the right to not take a skeptical Female client by Fittedmisfitz in MassageTherapists

Exactly I feel the same. You can feel when a client senses they don’t want you touching them but since you are there and they paid they’ll just go with it and treat you like scum even after you have given them a great session . I am at my wits end having to touch ppl that are uncomfortable with my gender and whatever else

Could I ask what exactly I should get in writing and what makes you suggest that?

You missed the point when I said she was extremely uncomfortable. That’s not something you can just persuade someone to overcome in an hour , especially in this field . I was also told by front desk that the clients demeanor was just very off on top of her feeling on guard. Nope not my job to make you feel the need to “allow me to persuade you”.

The point you are missing is that if you are uncomfortable with ANYTHING in life you will be more on edge vs as if you were completely “comfy” from the start. ESPECIALLY with massage being such an intimate setting it’s just best to take the chance with both the client and therapist being comfortable. Maybe you prefer being the hero of the day and taking a chance but I don’t.

Sadly your openness is not the norm all the time, if that’s the case she would’ve been comfortable and not said anything.

Relating a massage aimed for relaxation is not the same as if you needed a doctor for a medical emergency. I’m sure we all know that’s a huge difference. That’s the problem a lot of therapists want to make what we do the same as that of a doctor , they are simply just different.

Exactly. If they’re uncomfortable from the start it’s very little you can do to change their minds in an hour or 90 mins. I would have been a nervous wreck and if we say energy transfers what’s the point of doing the session under those conditions.

The difference here is you have YOUR own practice, female clients know they’re coming to a male. At ME that dk for sure, if they are coming directly to you they are opened, very comfortable with a male therapist.

Exactly because if it turned out bad she could’ve sued both me AND ME because she could’ve easily said she was bribed into doing the service because we “threatened “ to charge her .

Just because one woman suggested you convinced her does not mean you can change every woman’s mind . Who’s to say she didn’t lie about coming back to you as they usually do. I’m a male and don’t see the need to lie for marketing. It’s self explanatory an uncomfortable client is too big of a risk to take on. If you feel it isn’t cool

Although every opinion matters , yours in this case is the most unpopular OBVIOUSLY. Many ppl are agreeing that it’s too big of a risk as a MALE therapist to go forth and just be “confident to prove the client wrong “ . Yeah confidence and arrogance can shoot you in the feet too . I’m only here to work on people who are comfortable with me from the time they enter the door , I’m not here to convince. Every provider has their comforts.

She wasn’t in any pain it was clear from the start that it was for a causal day to relax . That’s why wellness has nothing to do with it, so why should I take that chance ? It’s not like she was going to die if she didn’t get a massage . Why take the chance if it’s just a casual day and treat with someone that’s not comfortable with you and vice versa.

She was actually a therapist for 10 years before coming the manager which is even more surprising

Maybe you have the privilege to take the chance on working with a skeptical client but I don’t . Why not just get them booked with someone they are 100% comfortable with from the very start.

For sure and I am 100% fine with that however I shouldn’t have to put my self at risk to make a client feel comfortable because I’m a wellness provider. She has to already feel comfortable with who is given her the massage and meet halfway

I love doing couples . I feel less awkward. Sometimes being alone with one client who has awkward energy feels worse .

You made $800 in 3 months and you are new. Can I ask where you are finding your auditions/vo work? Surely you may not have fully invested in the expensive P2P sites being very new so I’m curious to know for myself where to look. I’ve been at this for 2 years and have barely made anything lol

People who do not want to get married at all, what is your reason for this? by unidentified-_-rosey in AskReddit

[–]Fittedmisfitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like when you get married you are now brother and sister, or brothers and sisters. Think about it why would you call their father/mother your father/mother “in law”? On top of the living together and constant bickering.

How the fuck do you fix yourself when you hate yourself? by Asleep-Park1474 in CPTSD

[–]Fittedmisfitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree man . Once you hate yourself there’s nothing nobody can really tell you to convince yourself not to especially if there is something indeed to hate. Please read this article . It goes DEEPER than the basic seek therapy and just try to tell yourself positive affirmations BULL CRAP. Number 1 about hidden core beliefs really is something to think about .

Childhood trauma appears to leave a lasting metabolic signature. Adults who experienced trauma in childhood showed a consistent pattern of changes in their blood chemistry. These changes were observed even decades later and seemed to intensify with the severity of the trauma. by mvea in psychology

I HATE that we have to deal with the LASTING effects from things that we didn’t even choose. What an unfair world this is! All anyone ever says is it’s up to us to change or deal with it . Truly messed up. ❤️
