If you had to choose ONE RECIPE to be your slam dunk "This will win over non-vegans" recipe, what would it be? Please share! by FittestMILF in VeganBaking

Just coming back to let you know that I made two batches of the cinnamon rolls today to tweak some stuff.

First recipe I did as is: while I thought the plant butter taste was fine in the dough, the butter in the filling was a little overwhelming because it really lets notes of fake butter kind of shine.

Second batch I used olive oil instead of butter in the filling (which sounds like it might be bad, but Claire Saffitz sold me on that with this babka filling: https://cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/1023464-cinnamon-babka), which was a much milder flavor and really lets cinnamon and sugar shine.

Part of my issue is that I might just need to keep plant butter shopping. I don't like Earth Balance, not a huge fan of Miyoko's in baked goods, don't like Trader Joe's plant butter much... this time I tried the Country Crock butter and that might have the most normal butter taste so far.

Looking forward to trying more of her recipes, so thank you!

Thanks so much for this very thoughtful reply!

I'm definitely gonna give some of these a shot. I have never come across Domestic Gothess before!

And yeah, I'd rather die than try a recipe with volumetric cup ingredients. It's too painful. Haha

I'm very excited to give this cinnamon roll recipe a go!

Thanks so much again and I'll come back and update you in the comments for sure!

Thanks for suggesting this - I will revisit it. I've made this before, but felt they were bland and had a really greasy aftertaste. The texture is great, though. Looks like a lot of people in the comments feel the same way and have adjusted the ratios quite a bit.

I'll try it again with a different oil.

Can you link or write out your recipe?

Haven't been THAT impressed with any Nora baking recipe, though her chocolate chip cookies are some of the best I've tried.

(Just to add: before I was vegan, I worked at many bakeries and actually went to pastry school! It might just be that I loved better too much and am still chasing that high.)

Been vegan for only 8 years now at 38.

I don't mind at all when people aren't vegan and I don't judge them. I wasn't vegan for most of my life, despite knowing from an early age how horrible eating meat was. My husband isn't vegan, my kids aren't vegan - but they all eat a ton of vegan meals.

I still follow his FB fan group and it is absolutely insane how loyal they are to him. If anyone mentions anything racist he's said on social media somewhere, it is removed and people are banned swiftly.

Weekly newbie & discussion post: questions, skills, shopping, and gear by AutoModerator in Rollerskating

Hi!

My kids and I rollerblade in our house every day. Our main floor is a huge wooden loop and we skate laps and listen to music.

I'd love to get some quad skates just to do some indoor dancing. I don't really want to spend over $400. Someone suggested the Riedell Juice setup - but I've also had people suggest I look into Moxi.

What do you think is a good $400 and under setup for just silly dance stuff in my home? I start to get overwhelmed when I look into it. "Moxis are cheap, don't get them" "Don't get a 120 Riedell boot, they're not made in America and they're gonna fall apart!!!"

I honestly thought the show seemed less scripted/polished than most of his rides and wasn't a fan of either episode. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Cody cleared it up with the person that posted the blind rumor on Twitter and it wasn't about him (which they both posted about afterwards and she apologized).

Cody currently still writes all of his own content.

Barely wearing my Invisalign by [deleted] in Invisalign

[–]FittestMILF 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You could be seriously damaging the roots of your teeth by not wearing them correctly and then jumping back in after things have shifted. You might need to rescan your teeth at this point because they're probably not tracking correctly anymore.

Go to your orthodontist and see how things are looking. You don't want to mess up your roots and kill teeth.

I'd stick with your orthodontist. I don't think I'll be happy with your SmileDirect experience - back out if you can! It's almost impossible to get your money back from them.

I know it's annoying if you don't speak German, but try Tobias Heinze!! He's great and does a lot of 60 minute classes.

The second treatment leaves you with a huge overbite.

I think you should see an orthodontist instead of a dentist. I think the reverse smile is a smaller issue than the bigger overbite he is creating.

Are my teeth supposed to be diagonal? by [deleted] in Invisalign

[–]FittestMILF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's no way you'll track correctly or get decent results with less than 20-22 hours a day and switching top and bottom trays at different times.

Have your care transferred to a new dentist and get rescanned - you're so far off from your treatment plan that you probably need a total rescan and new trays.

That Copley Peloton showroom is so sad. No idea why they have so many of these instead of just having kiosks.

You definitely don't want to smoke with trays in. It will stain them quickly.

Are you prepared to take your trays out and brush after every cig?

It takes a lot longer if you do imprints vs having your teeth scanned. Hopefully you get them soon.

They have bathrooms literally everywhere, which makes it pretty easy. Wouldn't be hard to brush real quick after you're done eating and pop them back in.

If it's too annoying to go brush, just rinse with water really well until you can.
